ISeeCars.com analyzed 1.8 million vehicles to discover which models were the longest-lasting. The Honda CR-V lasted the longest out of all the small SUVs that the automotive publication analyzed. The CR-V has its fair share of problems, but ISeeCars found that more CR-V models last for over 200,000 miles than any other small SUV. Based on the average annual driving range, new CR-Vs can last for over 14 years. A CR-V kept in great condition could potentially last for over 17 years.

It’s no secret that Japanese automaker Honda produces long-lasting models. Vehicles like the Honda Civic have become incredibly popular because of their longevity and reliability. Most vehicles will encounter issues over a long period of time, but some models are built to last for well over a decade when properly maintained. The Honda CR-V is a small SUV that can outlast many of its rivals. This doesn’t mean that CR-V owners won’t have to deal with repairs or recalls over time.

The 2015 Honda CR-V had engine problems. The 2017 model year had electrical problems as well as brake issues. CR-V’s aren’t without their issues, but every model year since the 2017 model has received fewer complaints than the previous model on CarComplaints.com. The Subaru Forester, Subaru Outback, and Jeep Wrangler were all found to last longer than the RAV4.

Long-lasting small SUVs retain their value well over time. This means that the SUVs have a high resale value and depreciate slower than competitors. Long-lasting small SUVs also make great used models.

Kelley Blue Book claims that a used 2019 Honda CR-V has a fair purchase price of $22,825 with under 54,000 miles. A used 2019 CR-V is significantly cheaper than the 2023 Honda CR-V ($31,110). A used 2019 Honda CR-V with under 54,000 miles could last for another decade based on the annual average driving distance. The average new vehicle ownership period is only 8.4 years. So, a used 2019 Honda CR-V in good condition is a great deal for consumers looking for a long-lasting small SUV.

Is it time to buy a new Honda CR-V?

The 2023 Honda CR-V is a redesign. The new CR-V is much more expensive than previous model years. It will include better standard features like blind-spot warning, a 7.0-inch infotainment screen, and adaptive cruise control.

The latest CR-V model is loaded with great driver assistance and safety features. Upper trim levels offer even more value. Honda’s small SUV will compete with the best in its segment for 2023.
