We don’t do tractors much at MotorBiscuit, but we couldn’t pass up this Lamborghini mule. Called the Centenario, after the 2016 coupe and roadster of the same name, it also a tribute to founder Ferruccio Lamborghini on what would have been his 100th birthday. But unlike its supercar counterpart, the 1960 Lamborghini Centenary is an art car, or rather, an art tractor. Adler Capelli is the artist, and he actually made five Lamborghini tractors.

What engine does the Centenary tractor have?

But it isn’t just a metal sculpture, it actually runs and drives. The power comes from a 2.2-liter three-cylinder diesel engine with 36.5 hp. It’s backed by a manual transmission. Though no other specs were provided, but it must be faster and louder than originally built with those six straight pipes. And this particular Lambo tractor has over 300 miles on it.

You may wonder why a tractor, but if so, you don’t know the origins of the Lamborghini company. Lamborghini Trattori manufactured tractors before adding car manufacturing to the company’s output. Lamborghini used scrap metal and WWII aircraft parts to initially produce its tractors. Actually, the success of his tractors gave him the necessary foundation for auto production.

The steam punk-like design began with two of Lambo’s 1960s tractors, a DLA 35 and the 2R DT. Combined, they became the basis for the unique rolling art. Kept in bare metal, the artist intends for the body to age over time. The deep black-flat rear wheels feature Agri Max RT 355 tractor tires which combine with the smaller fronts to give the tractor a race car look.

Didn’t Lamborghini also make Centenario cars?

The cockpit is just as entertaining as the exterior. Exposed fuses, a stamped-steel box for cigarettes, and several iterations of Lamborghini badges festoon the interior. Vintage instruments extended out from the dash are in keeping with the classic vibe.

The tractors were done in homage to Lamborghini’s 100th celebration tribute. But officially, the company made 20 Centenario coupes and 20 roadster versions in 2016 to honor the landmark. Prices were just shy of $2 million. That makes the 1960 Centenary’s price a bargain.

How much is the Centenary tractor?

This particular example is No. 4 of five and is for sale. The asking price is $535,713. Offered by Cartech Autotechnik AG Chur in Switzerland, it may be a lot of Lire, but as with virtually all Lambos ever built, it is sure to appreciate.

So the 1960 Centenary offers three things to the buyer. It’s art that car enthusiasts will actually like and admire, you can drive it around your estate or vineyard, and it is a commodity. It’s true the same can be said for a Huricán or Revuelto, but they’re not as rare, unique, or unusual.
