Somehow the 2020 Alfa Romeo Stelvio is the Best Deal on a New Car Right Now

Finding a good deal on a new car is an elusive and often confusing hunt to go on. People like to tout the “beatings” they gave to the dealership when they bought their last new car. This is becoming a less and less appealing way for many people to do business. All that to say, getting the best deals on new cars can depend on anything from the time of year to geographic region. Taking all of that into consideration, the 2020 Alfa Romeo Stelvio seems the be the most discounted new car on the market right now.

Consumer Reports scanned the dealerships and got reports from folks who bought new cars and compared the percentage below MRSP to figure out which was the most highly discounted. They found that while there were many discounted models around 13 and 14 percent, only one crested those numbers at a 15 percent discount, and that was the 2020 Alfa Romeo Stelvio. That percentage works out to be nearly $5,500, on average, off the sticker price.

The Alfa Romeo Stelvio

Italian beauty and the practicality of an SUV; you can’t want much more than that. The Stelvio is a bit of a departure from what Alfa is all about. The wide stance and tall stature can be a little strange, but the designers at Alfa pulled it off.

The Stelvio came with two engine options; the 2-liter four-cylinder turbo making 280 hp and the 2.9-liter V6 turbo making 505 hp. Both motors come with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Is it still an Alfa?

The Stelvio has decent power for an SUV, but what really makes the Alfa Romeo Stelvio really worth its salt is the handling. Consumer Reports calls the Stelvio one of the best handling SUVs on the market.

The Stelvio isn’t overly powerful, but it can throw around the power it does have pretty well. While the steering is tight and nimble, Consumer Reports says the brakes can be a bit harsh. This probably isn’t what most SUV drivers are looking for, but it is Italian, after all. Making the Stelvio sporty and beautiful cannot be avoided by Alfa Romeo.

Aside from the performance, the most Italian sports car feelings come from the car’s flair and personality. The Alfa Romeo Stelvio isn’t the most well-equipped SUV on the market. But for what it lacks in gadgets and high-quality interior materials, it makes up for in charisma and beauty.

The Stelvio is not perfect

It may be the best deal, but there are some significant complaints about the Stelvio. Consumer Reports claims that many buyers reported uncomfortable seats with limited seat adjustments. Overall, the interior is OK, but it does feature a lot of cheap plastic buttons and dash pieces.

Visibility is easily the Stelvio’s weakest point. Consumer Reports found in their road test that the blinds sports are vast in number and space. The Stelvio’s sloping roofline, massive rear pillars, and lack of third rear window.

Even with the Alfa Romeo Stelvio’s flaws, it is still a blast to drive and pretty cheap compared to the other deals being offered right now.
