We don’t know what this is or what to call it but we just couldn’t look away. It is also a mystery why anyone would convert this MG Midget into a Kawasaki-powered three-wheeler. Or maybe it’s a Kawasaki turned into an MG? Whatever you want to call it, it is ingenuity in action, and probably exists because someone had a dead MG and the back of a bagger. 

Does this MG Midget/Kawasaki mashup look like a good idea?

It even utilizes the saddlebags, which is like using every part of your Thanksgiving turkey to make things like stuffing, soup, gravy, and of course, eating the leftovers for a week. And the best part is that if you like this epic mashup, you can own it. It’s for sale on Facebook Marketplace in New York. But you better scoop it up before the crowds come to claim it.

At $4,500, how could you go wrong? Other than the obvious tippy tendencies of some three-wheel cars. And three-wheelers like the Polaris Slingshot and perennial Morgan seem to do OK in that regard, so let’s not be judgemental.

This mashup started with a 2007 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 and a 1976 MG Midget. MGs were those little English sports cars that started flooding our shores after WWII. A combination of typically bad wiring, iffy quality, and few improvements over the years spelled the end for MG in 2005. 

This MG is faster and more fun than a stock Midget

By 1978 MG built its last Midget, which was indeed small. At only 137 inches, and 1,600 lbs, it was tiny and lightweight. Driving them on freeways or turnpikes was not for the faint of heart. 

Anyway, with a blown engine and possibly a few rust holes from the harsh eastern winters, this old MG probably wasn’t worth much. But if one were to have a motorcycle sitting around, combining the two shouldn’t be that difficult, or expensive. 

The seller told Jalopnik he originally wanted a Campagna T-Rex, but couldn’t come up with the $40,000 at the time. (They go for a lot more now.) So you can see how this came to be. While the MG came with a stomach pump for an engine, the Vulcan has both more power and torque to make this interesting. And the modern fuel injection doesn’t hurt, either. 

It’s better than forking over $60,000 for a T-Rex

So the good news is that this thing should rip compared to a stock Midget. And with some engine mods, it could almost be scary, in a good way. Plus, what’s even better is that it is way cheaper than shelling out $60,000-plus for some of the alternatives. When you look at it that way, this makes a whole lot more sense than we first considered. 

Another plus is that it is registered as a 2007 Kawasaki, so licensing will be cheaper than if it were a normal MG Midget. Best of all might be that having languished on Facebook Marketplace for two years means the seller might be up for some negotiations. Being the free spirit he must be, who knows what oddball trades he might consider? So take your best shot and have some fun in the snow for Christmas.
