Someone Turned a Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 Into an Overland Truck
We have seen overland campers and trucks built from damn near every vehicle in the world at this point. However, strangely, airplane hulls and firetrucks are more common platforms than the Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUVs for building overland rigs. Thankfully, the folks at Pit26 Motorsports have made a Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 overland truck that is one of the coolest we’ve ever seen.

Pit26 Motorsports, the G-Class aftermarket parts provider, built one of the coolest G Wagons we have ever seen. Because of the upper-crust nature of the G-Class, we often forget that these German boxes are some of the toughest off-roaders in the game.
According to Motor1, Pit26 Motorsports built this custom overlander for a well-heeled client who seems to have a deep passion for both off-roading and luxury. In order to achieve the G63 truck conversion, the builders pulled another 20 inches out of the stock wheelbase. The suspension also grew a bit, lifting the beast for an additional 5.9 inches of ground clearance.
If this monster G63 looks big, it’s because it is. The lifted Merc sits on 38×13.5 R18 Toyo MT tires on 18-inch Innov8 Racing wheels. As you can certainly guess, this truck didn’t just get a lift and some tires. Pit26 Motorsports went to town on this thing.
Behind its menacing black exterior, the Mercedes G Wagon overlander has new Bilstein coilovers and added underbody armor. The custom truck also got custom running boards made specifically for it. The wheel arches also had to be stretched to accommodate the monster tires. The builders note “an impressive engine note for growling through the country” thanks to the new Magnaflow exhaust system.
The coolest part of off-road rigs is the lights. This AMG G63 truck has a custom roof rack and light rig. Aside from the lights, the roof rack is also fitted with an adapter for hosting an IKamper mini tent.

While the AMG overland truck has a fancy exhaust system, the AMG G63 needs no help sounding good, given its screaming heart is a twin-turbo 4.0-liter, making 577 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. The transmission remains unaltered. The builders say this was done to allow the truck to return to stock if necessary.
Will anyone actually take their G Wagon off-road?
This project is so cool because the G-Class is a proper off-roader, yet we aren’t used to seeing people use them that way. Unlike someone building a mall-crawler Jeep, not taking your $200k Merc off-road makes sense.
However, this client seems to be pretty serious about taking the G63 into the wild stuff. Hopefully, this build can inspire some other deep-pocketed enthusiasts to take their Merc box into the woods.
