You may have noticed that Spider-Man has good taste in new cars and chose the Hyundai Ioniq 5 to drive around in. In the latest film in the series, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Hyundai’s newest electric SUV gets a cameo of its own in the movie. How much did this run Spider-Man?
Catch Spider-Man and his Hyundai Ioniq 5 in the newest film
Hyundai and Sony Pictures formed a partnership ahead of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which hits theatres on Dec. 17. Tom Holland as Spider-Man can be seen driving the brand-new Hyundai IONIQ 5 electric vehicle throughout the film. This is the first of many films to feature Hyundai vehicles after creating the Hyundai-Sony strategic partnership.
Anyway, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 starts at $40,925 for the entry-level model, according to Fox News. The base Ioniq 5 offers drivers 168 hp with a range of 220 miles per charge. The model featured in the film is one trim level up. That version starts at $44,875 and gets 303 miles per charge. Both models of the Ioniq 5 are still eligible for the $7,500 federal tax credit. The top-tier trim level starts at $48,375 and has a 265-mile range.
The Ioniq 5 offers buyers an 800-volt charging system. This allows drivers to charge from 10% State of Charge (SoC) to 80% SoC at the fastest charging stations around.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is the first film to showcase the Sony x Hyundai partnership
According to the official press release from Hyundai, the point of this collaboration with Spider-Man is to bring viewers in on the brand’s vision.
“The partnership offers viewers opportunities to grasp Hyundai Motor’s human-centered mobility vision via innovative vehicles and technologies.”

Hyundai chose the Ioniq 5 and the new Hyundai Tucson to be featured in the film. Thomas Schemera, Executive Vice President, Global Chief Marketing Officer, and Head of Customer Experience Division of Hyundai Motor Company, commented on the exciting new project.
“We expect great marketing impact from this collaboration. This exciting film and the two vehicles’ inclusion in key moments of the storyline played by the main characters will exhilarate the minds of millions of viewers around the world,” Schemera said. The Ioniq 5’s impressive 300-mile range is also a selling point in the movie.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is the third film in this franchise starring Tom Holland. He plays high-schooler Peter Parker and his alias, Spider-Man. The last movie in the franchise, Spider-Man: Far From Home, grossed USD 1.131 billion worldwide. It was the fourth-highest-grossing moving in 2019, and 25th of all time.
Hyundai and Sony also made a long-form commercial to accompany the films. This was directed by Jon Watts, who also directed the movies. Spider-Man needs to hitch a ride on his 300-mile journey to New York, where the Hyundai Ioniq 5 comes in. Fans can expect to see a shorter version of this on television soon enough.
