Starting a Family in 2024? 1 of These Luxury Sports Sedans Could Preserve Your Smile for Miles
So you’ve sat down with your partner and decided to start a family. That doesn’t mean the car enthusiast in you must die to make room for kids and dogs. Instead, you can get one of these thrust-happy luxury sports sedans, like a 2023 BMW M5 or Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, to keep your inner 12-year-old alive while you ferry around your actual 12-year-old.
These midsized sports sedans marry speed, style, and family-friendly usability
Sure, that Mercedes-AMG SL63 is calling to you. However, two doors and a drop top just won’t cut it when you need to take an eight-year-old to Jiu-Jitsu. That, or deliver a five-year-old to kindergarten. Understandably, a four-door sedan with a dedicated trunk is the more practical option.
Fret not, car fan. These are just a few of the delightfully unhinged sports sedans you can use to be a super-parent and a tire-lighting lunatic.
Make and model | Seating capacity | Horsepower | Starting price |
---|---|---|---|
2023 BMW M5 | 5 | 600 hp | $110,895 |
2024 Audi S6 | 5 | 444 hp | $75,795 |
2024 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio | 5 | 505 hp | $82,470 |
2024 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing | 5 | 668 hp | $93,390 |
Of course, no conversation about deceptively swift sports sedans goes without mention of the BMW M5. The time-honored Bimmer summons a volcanic 600 horsepower from a sonorous 4.4L twin-turbocharged V8. The rear seats aren’t cavernous, but they’ll work with LATCH connectors for child seats.
Audi’s S6 brings the marque’s famed potency to a midsize luxury sedan package. What’s more, at $75,795, it’s comparable to the controversially styled 2024 BMW M3. However, at 444 horsepower, the S6 doesn’t out-flex the competition from Alfa Romeo, BMW, and Cadillac.
Like the M5 and S6, the 2024 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t have Maybach-esque rear seating. But, the 505-horsepower four-door Ferrari will also accommodate child seats. That, and you can access the sports sedan’s rear seats without dropping the front seats like that in a coupe or cabriolet.
However, Alfa fans who want all-wheel drive (AWD) grip will have to opt for the hiked-up Stelvio Quadrifoglio. Better yet, the Stelvio shares the range-topping Giulia’s 2.9L turbocharged V6. Coincidentally, that mill has the same bore, angle, and stroke as the now-discontinued Ferrari California.
From the star-spangled side of the pond, the 2024 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing channels the manic CTS-V cars of the last decade. With a tire-vaporizing 668-horsepower courtesy of a supercharged 6.2L V8, the CT5-V Blackwing will take you and the whole shrieking, smiling brood to 60 mph in around three and a half seconds. The Cadillac also offers a softer ride than the M5, a feature that will better suit families on the go.
