If you own a Jeep 4xe model then you might need to park outside. Do not park under or near any structures, because you might burn the whole place down. Stellantis is warning drivers because the Jeep Wrangler 4xe and Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe are bursting into flames.

Recall alert, Jeep 4xe models could burst into flames

Stellantis is once again issuing a recall for roughly 200,000 4xe SUV models due to a massive fire risk. The Jeep Wrangler 4xe and Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe are at risk of spontaneously combusting.

The fires could erupt while the vehicles are being driven and while they are left in park. Do not park under any structures and safely park away from structures and buildings.

Also, do not charge your Jeep model until after it has been repaired. The risk of fire is lower with less battery charge.

This recall includes 2020 – 20203 Jeep Wrangler Plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUVs and 2020 – 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee PHEV SUVs.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), these 4xe models may have been built with a high voltage battery that may internally fail. Allegedly, there are two injuries related to this problem.

Stellantis will begin notifying owners at risk via mail by October 17. You can contact Chrysler customer service at 800-583-1403. The NHTSA recall numbers are 24V-720 and 24E-080.

Also, you can visit the NHTSA site to enter your 17-digit V.I.N. to see if your Jeep is involved. You can call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236.

If your 4xe SUV is at risk, you will need to visit a local dealership for service. A technician will inspect and update the battery pack control module software. The battery will be replaced if necessary.

Last but not least, call 911 if your vehicle catches on fire and get to safety. Do not try to use water to put the fire out. That could make the electrical fire much worse.

Stay tuned for updates!
