In a unique way, Stellantis is trying to improve business. It’s not giving up yet as iconic nameplates like the Jeep Wrangler face declining sales. Plus, workers threaten to strike over rumors of moving the Dodge Durango to Canada.

Is Stellantis moving the Dodge Durango to Canada?

Maybe, currently, Stellantis is facing rumors about moving the Dodge Durango to Canada, which means tons of workers in America would lose their jobs.

The United Auto Workers (UAW) union alleges that Stellantis is planning on moving Durango production from Detroit Michigan to Windsor, Ontario, Canada. However, information about moving the Durango hasn’t been released to the public.

Workers are taking this seriously as local chapters representing thousands of UAW workers file contract grievances. This allegedly would violate the terms of their current contract with Stellantis.

The UAW feels as if Stallentis is failing to disclose crucial information about future product commitments. As a result, this may violate the agreed upon terms from the 2023 UAW Collective Bargaining Agreement.

It was agreed upon during the recent auto worker strike that stopped production for about six weeks across the nation. Ford and Chevrolet also had workers striking.

Also, the UAW filed unfair labor practice charges with the National Labor Relations Board. (NLRB). Stellanits hasn’t received the filing and hasn’t been able to review it.

Stellantis spokeswoman, Jodi Tinsonn shared that Stallntis carefully manifests how and when to bring new vehicles to market with a focus on enhancing competitiveness, sustainability, and growth. Plans will be shared with the UAW at the appropriate time.

UAW President, Shawn Fain shared that in the 2023 contract, workers won significant hains, including a commitment to reopen the idled Jeep Cherokee assembly plant in Belvidere, Illinois.

Also, to build the Dodge Durango in Detroit and the right to strike over these commitments if needed. Now, Stellanits wants to go back on the deal as the UAW plans to enforce the contract.

Stay tuned for updates! This battle is just getting started.
