But, the hybrid variant remains one of the more popular options for its efficiency and more affordable price tag. Although on Ford’s site, you can still let your Ford dealership know that you are interested in its small truck, you may not actually get one. According to Ford Authority, order banks have already closed. With orders for the 2023 Ford Maverick Hybrid closing first. So, unfortunately, you might have already missed the boat on this compact pickup.
It’s not surprising that the Ford Maverick Hybrid is such a popular vehicle. It is cheaper than getting the EcoBoost engine, and you get more efficiency. Some have claimed they got 50 mpg from a Maverick Hybrid, and that is a pretty impressive feat.
How powerful is the Maverick Hybrid?
Although it does not have the 250 horsepower of the turbocharged engine, the hybrid powertrain does make 191 hp. And that should be enough for most needs. Perhaps the biggest downfall of the 2.5-liter hybrid engine is that you cannot get it with all-wheel drive. 2023 Ford Maverick Hybrid trucks still only come with front-wheel drive. Which might be a bit of a disappointment to some. Especially if you want a pickup truck with AWD.
Ford could have easily just put its three-cylinder engine in its small truck. But instead, the brand with a standard hybrid powertrain, which is a first for the truck segment. In the future, hopefully, Ford offers an AWD system that works with the hybrid engine. But for now, that just is not the case.

The Maverick Hybrid has a starting cost of $23,885. And for a small truck, that is a fairly affordable price. Due to high demand, though, if you want to purchase a new Ford Maverick, you will likely have to deal with paying a markup. Plus, it does seem like Ford has already shut down customer orders for the 2023 model.
Since its release, Ford’s small truck has been extremely popular. And it feels nearly impossible to buy one for MSRP. It doesn’t seem like folks mind paying well over stick price though, and some Mavericks sell for over $40,000.
