Study: Texas Is the State With the Worst Drivers With 3 Dangerous Cities
Tragically, the standard of driving for American motorists is well below that of many of our European counterparts. However, not every state has the same propensity for truly awful and unsafe driving. Unfortunately, Texas takes the cake as the state with the worst drivers in the United States. According to a study, the Lone Star State boasts three of the most dangerous cities in the country for motorists.
Forbes study suggests that San Antonio, Dallas, and Fort Worth establish Texas as the state with the worst drivers in America
Last year, a study revealed that Texas is the state with the worst drivers in America. Of the most harrowing statistics, the Lone Star State boasted the third-highest number of fatal crashes involving drunk drivers and the second-highest number of fatal incidents involving drowsy drivers.
According to a newer Forbes study, Texas has three of the top 25 most dangerous cities in the United States for drivers: Dallas, Fort Worth, and San Antonio. It makes some geographic sense; Dallas and Fort Worth constitute a metro area (DFW).
Moreover, To rank the states and cities with the worst drivers, Forbes considers fatal accidents and their causes. Tragically, Dallas is No. 3 for drunk driver-related fatalities and No. 4 for speeding-related deaths.
Overall rank | Texas city |
---|---|
6th | Dallas, Texas |
9th | Fort Worth, Texas |
12th | San Antonio, Texas |
It’s not just these three Texas cities, either; El Paso, Austin, and Houston also took top spots among the top 25 worst cities in the country for drivers. However, El Paso, Austin, and Houston earned the 20th, 24th, and 23rd spots, respectively. Moreover, the state’s capitol, Austin, had a lower average number of fatal car accidents per every 100,000 residents.
As a result, the Lone Star State has six of the 25 most dangerous cities. In comparison, Florida, California, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and Arizona have two of the top 25 cities each. In both overall standings and number of dangerous cities, Texas takes the top spot among states with the worst drivers in the country.
