Subaru Really Messed Up the Name of this Special Edition Forester

There are a number of things that can make a ‘special edition’ turn out not so special. Sometimes, too many were made, like the original Ford F-150 Harley-Davidson edition. Or the features don’t justify the price, as with the current F-150 Harley-Davidson. But sometimes, a special edition stands out, but not for the best reasons. At this year’s Singapore Motor Show, Subaru unveiled a special edition Forester. Unfortunately, it’s unlikely anyone will call the Subaru Forester Ultimate Customized Special Edition by either its full name or its acronym. At least, not without some bleeps and blurred lips.

The Subaru Forester F.U.C.K.S. special edition details

Yup. Although technically redundant, this crossover is the Subaru Forester F.U.C.K.S. special edition. Yes, everyone on the Internet’s made the obvious joke. And no, we don’t know if the name’s intentional.

According to Autoblog, this Subaru Forester special edition appears to be painted in Subaru’s well-known World Rally Blue, with pinstriping the same shade of pink used by the STI division. It’s possible, then, that Subaru’s in-house tuner modified this Forester somewhat. However, no details about the F.U.C.K.S. edition’s powertrain have been revealed.

A body kit appears to have been installed, as well as blue underglow lighting, according to Jalopnik. The Forester now rides on 20” Enkei wheels, with high-performance tires. And the stock brake calipers have been replaced with bright green ones.

The blue glow continues inside, with blue ambient lighting in the footwells. The rest of the interior also received some upgrades. There’s soft-touch suede on the dashboard and door panels. The leather seats also have suede, as well as red contrast stitching.

The audio system also appears to have been upgraded, Top Gear Philippines reported, with a subwoofer and Focal amplifiers mounted in a glass case in the trunk. The rear passengers also get their own individual LCD monitors.

Is it coming to the US?

As of this writing, Subaru has not confirmed any additional details about the Forester special edition. Nothing has been revealed about the possibility of production, or how much something like this would cost.

However, Autoblog mused that this Forester build wouldn’t be out place at SEMA. It’s possible Subaru is using the Forester special edition to gauge public interest in new aftermarket parts or factory options. And seeing as the Forester is sold in the US, Subaru could bring the F.U.C.K.S. edition over to fill out its SEMA booth.

Should you consider a non-special edition Subaru Forester?

Even if this Subaru Forester special edition doesn’t reach production, the normal Forester has a lot to offer.

It’s recommended by both Consumer Reports and Kelley Blue Book, and it’s an affordable way to get an AWD SUV. And people do indeed take the compact SUV off-roading. The Forester is also an IIHS Top Safety Pick+, with low insurance costs. It has more interior storage than a BMW X6, according to Jalopnik. The Forester is also significantly more fuel-efficient. And if you’re interested in a used model, the Subaru Forester 2.5 XT could go 0-60 faster than the BRZ sports car.

So, even if the Subaru Forester special edition doesn’t come here, we don’t give a…well, you know.
