When you think of reliability it’s easy for Toyota to come to mind. Toyota has quite the reputation for building durable, long-lasting vehicles. However, two Subaru SUVs actually rank higher than the 2024 Toyota RAV4 in terms of reliability. 

Which Subaru SUVs are more reliable than the Toyota RAV4? 

According to iSeeCars, the 2024 Subaru Forester and 2024 Subaru Outback are more reliable than the 2024 Toyota RAV4. 

On the list of the most reliable small SUVs for 2024, the Outback landed in second place with a reliability score of 8.8 out of 10. The Forester came in third with a score of 8.6. 

Then the RAV4 came in fourth place with a reliability rating of 8.4 out of 10. So, each of these vehicles is pretty competitive, but if you aren’t first, you’re last. Speaking of first, the 2024 Honda CR-V is the most reliable option on this list with a score of 9.0

iSeeCars ranks vehicles for reliability by analyzing over 12 million vehicles to assess each model’s long-term durability.

J.D.Power ranks vehicles based on reliably based on feedback from actual owners. The RAV4 got a score of 76 out of 100, the Forester earned an 84, and the Outback got an 80. So, the rankings are pretty consistent across the board. 

The average Subaru Outback model is expected to last between 250,000 and 300,000 miles. Making it to 350,000 miles is possible with proper care and regular maintenance. If you drive an average of 15,000 miles per year, then the Outback could provide 20 years of service on the road. 

You can expect the average Forester model to make it between 200,000 to 250,000 miles. With regular care, it can make it over 300,000 miles. Plus, so models have surpassed 500,000 miles. It could provide about 17 years of service. 

The average RAV4 model is expected to reach between 200,000 to 250,000 miles. It’s not uncommon for some models to make it over 300,000 miles. It could provide 13 to 16 years of service. 

But on an interesting note, the RAV4 maintains a slightly better resale value than the Outback and Forester.
