‘Succession’ Star Crashed His Rivian R1T Into a Pizza Shop
I guess, statistically, it’s pretty rare for celebrities to get into car wrecks. Even though it may not feel that way because of how public they are, the normies crash way more cars than the fames. Either way, at the risk of ruining my own point, Alan Ruck allegedly crashed a Rivian R1T into a few cars and, ultimately, a pizza shop in Hollywood Tuesday night – As if his dad’s Ferrari wasn’t enough.

The Tuesday night crash is still under investigation, according to LA Police. The surveillance footage shows quite a chaotic scene where the seemingly out-of-control Rivian rear-ended a car sitting at a stop light, careened through the intersection, clipped another car, and finally came to rest halfway through the wall of a pizza shop.
CBS News LA, along with other outlets, allege that the Rivian’s driver was Alan Ruck of “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” and, more recently, “Succession” fame. While police are still investigating, one unnamed 32-year-old man was taken to the hospital. Other than that, there seem to be no more injuries reported.
Why did the Rivian act so erratically?
With all the new car tech hitting the shelves at light speed these days, whenever a new, high-tech model crashes strangely, many pause and ask if the vehicle malfunctioned. Social media posts surrounding the video footage claim that the truck rapidly accelerated from a standstill moments before the series of crashes.
The rapid acceleration is causing police to leave multiple possibilities on the table for why the crash happened. While a mechanical or software problem could be to blame, we haven’t heard much about that in the news. Right now, police seem to think it’s possible that it could have been a medical event that caused the erratic driving. However, it’s also possible that the movie star could have mixed up which pedal does which. As of now, we simply don’t know.
Are Rivians safe?
Considering that the driver wasn’t reported as having any injuries, it would seem that the new electric truck did well in keeping its driver safe, at least. In fact, Raffallo’s pizza shop took a hell of a lick. The photos show the truck buried halfway into a bathroom stall. The truck hit the building so hard that the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety is investigating to make sure the building is still stable and safe. If the Rivian could hit a building, and the building might be in worse shape, I’d say that’s pretty good.
The IIHS gave the Rivian R1T a Top Safety Pick +, the organization’s highest crash safety test. All that crash safety design certainly came in handy here, but there’s not much you can do about crash avoidance if the driver is having an episode or there’s equipment malfunction.
