Surprise, the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 Jumped Past the Ford F-150
The battle between full-size trucks just took a surprising turn. Somehow, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 was able to zoom past the Ford F-150. The 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 has been trying to catch the 2022 Ford F-150 for a while, so how did it finally pull off a victory?
2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 vs. 2022 Ford F-150
The official numbers are in, and get ready for an upset. According to Kelley Blue Book, the 2022 Ford F-150 took a tumble. The 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 just outranked it as the most considered pickup truck.
That means more people are thinking about buying the Chevy Silverado instead of the Ford F-150. But at least the F-150 didn’t fall far. It landed in second place on the list of the top 10 most-shopped vehicles.
Meanwhile, options like the Toyota Tundra and Ram 1500 didn’t make it into the top 10. Shopping consideration for the F-150 dropped by eight percent, and interest in the Silverado increased by five percent.
The Brand Watch Report was put together based on a consumer perception survey. It takes data from shopping behaviors to see how brands influence purchasing decisions.
Why is the Silverado attracting buyers?
The 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 received a significant refresh for the model year. It got a restyled front end for a more attractive and confident look. Plus, it gained a total interior redesign.
Previously, the Silverado 1500 had one of the most outdated interiors available. Now cheap plastics and other materials have been replaced by higher-quality supplies for an upscale and modern feeling.
However, the 2022 Ford F-150 has a luxurious interior as well. The center console can be folded flat to create a workspace, and the optional Max Recline seats fold flat to create a palace for napping.
People may not be attracted to the Silverado 1500 over the F-150 because of the interior. It’s possible that the Silverado 1500 has more units available than the F-150. The F-150 is already closing the order books for 2022 models.
Does the Silverado 1500 or F-150 have better features?
The 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 starts at about $33,800, while the 2022 Ford F-150 begins at around $30,495. These prices don’t include destination fees or dealership markups. So, the Silverado attracts more buyers despite being more expensive.
In the F-150, an 8.0-inch touchscreen is standard, but you can upgrade to a 12.0-inch unit. The Silverado 1500 offers an even larger 13.4-inch screen. Both trucks have standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
While the F-150 is working on BlueCruise technology, the Chevy Silverado 1500 offers Super Cruise. Both systems are hands-free driving systems that require drivers to pay attention to the road.
The F-150 offers standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection. The Silverado provides standard forward-collision warning, automated emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist.
It’s possible that the Chevy Silverado includes more value than the F-150, or the refresh is attracting more customers. Or more units could be available. We will keep tracking the truck wars for the latest updates.
