It’s time to celebrate the Chevy Tahoe because it stole the crown from significant three-row rivals. Forget the reigning champion and fresh competition from the Jeep Wagoneer. The 2022 Chevy Tahoe is the best SUV. 

The 2022 Chevy Tahoe is the best full-size SUV 

The rankings are in, and according to Car and Driver, the 2022 Chevy Tahoe is the best full-size SUV. The Tahoe is the number one option on their list of the best three-row SUVs ranked from worst to best. 

It’s surprising for the Tahoe to come up with the top spot after the Ford Expedition has dominated the competition for years. Plus, the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer just entered the scene. 

The Jeep Wagoneer landed in fourth place, despite having the most passenger space, excellent cargo capacity, stout towing power, and a load-leveling rear suspension. However, it has a steep starting price, top-heavy handling, and awkward exterior proportions. 

We aren’t surprised to see the 2022 Toyota Sequoia in last place because it’s quite outdated. The Ford Expedition Max and Ford Expedition came in sixth place because higher trim levels skimp on value for the price. 

Why is the Chevy Tahoe the best three-row SUV? 

The 2022 Chevy Tahoe was recently redesigned with an attractive exterior look and enhanced features. For example, the new independent rear suspension improves the ride quality. Plus, passenger and cargo space increased. 

You can access up to 25.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and up to 122.9 cubic feet total. If you need even more capacity, the Tahoe can tow up to 8,400 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,972 lbs. 

The standard 5.3-liter V8 engine provides 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. You can upgrade to the 6.2-liter V8 engine for 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. Also, the 3.0-liter V6 turbo-diesel engine cranks out 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. 

It’s rare to see stout diesel engines these days. Plus, rivals like the Ford Expedition and Toyota Sequoia only offer one engine. The Tahoe’s engines are each paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The Tahoe can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 6.6 seconds. 

If you need off-roading power, check out the Tahoe Z71. This rugged adventuring trim adds a two-speed transfer case, skid plates, recovery hooks, 4×4, and all-terrain tires. 

Does the 2022 Tahoe have nice features?

Yes, the 2022 Chevy Tahoe includes plenty of value and starts at $52,000. The interior features leather upholstery, soft-touch covered surfaces, wood appliques, pops of silver, and attractive accent stitching. 

Each Tahoe model has a 10.2-inch infotainment system with standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You can opt for the upgraded Bose audio system. Plus, the rear-seat entertainment package comes with two 12.6-inch displays. 

Standard safety features include forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assistance. 

The Tahoe seems to provide more options than rivals with luxury comfort, a stout towing capacity, and even an incredibly capable off-roading trim.
