We’ve got a significant victory to celebrate for the Toyota Highlander. If you want a Toyota SUV, then feel confident with the 2022 Toyota Highlander. It outranks all other options with the highest reliability ranking. It beats the Toyota 4Runner, RAV4, and Sequoia.

How reliable is the 2022 Toyota Highlander?

You can trust the 2022 Toyota Highlander to make it past 300,000 miles with the proper care and maintenance. There are reports of Toyota Highlander models making it past 400,000 miles, so don’t skip the small stuff like regular oil changes.

If you drive about 13,000 to 15,000 miles annually, you can get about 20 years of use out of your SUV. In fact, about 20 percent of owners still have their Highlander models after 15 years.

But what’s even more interesting is that the Highlander landed in second place on the list of the top 10 most reliable vehicles. While we expected to see the Toyota 4Runner or Toyota RAV4, they didn’t make the list.

The only other Toyota vehicles on the list include the Toyota Prius and the Toyota Prius Prime. However, if this list included trucks, the rankings might change because the Toyota Tundra and Tacoma are also reliable options.

What are the worst used Toyota Highlander model?

The 2022 Toyota Highlander has an above-average predicted reliability ranking, but a few used models aren’t as lucky. According to Car Complaints, the 2015 Highlander is one of the used Toyota Highlander models to avoid.

Owners of the 2015 Highlander reported over 600 issues. The most common problems involve electrical problems and trouble with the interior accessories. Some drivers complained about uncomfortable seats.

However, that’s a relief because it isn’t related to some massive mechanical problem. You can probably make the seats more comfortable with padded covers. Also, the complaints about aching legs and sore rear ends are pretty entertaining.

The electrical problems involve reports of the power locks failing, the infotainment screen freezing, the radio randomly rebooting, the steering locking up or losing power, and the heated seats going rogue with super hot temperatures.

The 2019 Toyota Highlander has close to 500 complaints. The biggest problem is related to the fuel system. Owners reported that their Highlander models randomly stalled in traffic and had faulty gas gauges. But the issues were corrected under a recall.

Is the 2022 Highlander worth buying?

Yes, the 2022 Toyota Highlander is an excellent SUV to consider. It’s one of the longest-lasting SUVs you can buy, with higher reliability rankings than a few different older models. It starts at about $35,855.

There aren’t many new changes for 2022. But the 2023 model has a new 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 265 hp and 309 lb-ft of torque. The 2022 Highlander has a 3.5-liter V6 engine with 295 hp and 263 lb-ft of torque.

So, go with the 2022 model if you want more torque and the 2023 model if you want more horsepower. Both models can tow up to 5,000 lbs when properly equipped. Both engines have the same fuel efficiency.

We will provide the latest Highlander news and can’t wait to see how the new engine feels. Until then, know that it’s one of the most reliable options out there.
