According to Green Car Reports, a study concluded that a large percentage of both truck owners and non-truck owners are more likely to buy a Toyota Tacoma Electric than other electric pickup trucks.

The study proved that many consumers are excited about an electric Tacoma despite the lack of information on the vehicle. A Toyota Tacoma Electric could have great potential, assuming Toyota checks several boxes that are extremely important to electric vehicle buyers.

If Toyota does produce a Tacoma Electric, it should have at least 220 miles of driving range. The 2023 Toyota bZ4X small electric SUV has 222 miles of standard driving range. Toyota should offer a larger battery pack model with over 250 miles of range as well.

Drivers want an electric Tacoma that doesn’t break the bank. The gas-powered 2023 Toyota Tacoma starts at $27,250. A Toyota Tacoma Electric that starts at around $40,000 would be much more popular than a $50K midsize electric pickup truck.

Most of all, drivers want a Tacoma Electric that’s capable. Trucks like the Rivian R1T have proven that EVs can have incredible off-roading prowess.
