An orange cat strikes again! It found itself going for the ride on top of an SUV, reaching dangerous speeds of 30 mph before being rescued just in time. The cat escaped this harrowing situation right before the SUV got on the highway.

People are often reminded to check under the hood and around their tires in the winter to make sure cats and other animals aren’t huddling in dangerous places while trying to stay warm.

However, what about checking the roof of your SUV?

An eight-year-old orange cat, named Liam is probably happy that he didn’t lose one of his nine lives while traveling on top of an SUV.

While Teen Wolf made surfing on top of a van look cool in the 1985 film, this activity has the potential to be deadly.

A good samaritan named Davis Giuseppone, was outside when he heard frantic meows. He was looking all over for the usual neighborhood cats before he realized that the cat was riding on top of a Ford Explorer on the roof rack.

David ran after the Explorer and flagged it down. As the Explorer pulled over, Liam jumped off into the bushes after experiencing speeds up to 30 mph.

The SUV was heading for Route 66, so things could have been much worse. David was happy to rescue Liam before the SUV got on the highway, otherwise, it would have been more challenging to get him to safety.

David knows Liam and his personality well. He is a relaxed cat that isn’t bothered by people or loud noises. He was probably napping in the shade when it took off toward the highway.

He took Liam to High Country Humane, where his microchip was scanned, but the information was disconnected. David is working with the humane society to find Liam’s family.

David will take him home if the family can’t be located. Hopefully, his SUV surfing days are over.
