According to Automotive Industry, North American Toyota factories aren’t having an easy time of it when it comes to keeping dealers stocked with 2021 Toyota Tacoma pickup trucks.

The pandemic hasn’t slowed Tacoma sales down. Emerging adventure seekers, inspired by stay at home orders and a general upheaval of our typical day-to-day social lives mean more car buyers than ever are seeking “the endless weekend.” This just happens to be Toyota’s slogan for the 2021 Toyota Tacoma.

The 2021 Toyota Tacoma is a tough off-roader with mass appeal

While some of Toyota’s other models are often called boring or “vanilla,” the Toyota Tacoma is tough. In fact, this truck has serious mass appeal. It has a reputation for reliability and extreme durability. However, it’s not exactly easy getting a 2021 Toyota Tacoma right now.

For example, one dealership in Ontario, California calls one of the three North American Toyota factories every day. Automotive Industry quotes the dealership’s general manager, Paxton Gagnet. He says “we ask every day, politely, politely. It is very difficult.”

The 2021 Toyota Tacoma, or Taco, as it’s loving called by die-hard loyalists, boasts aggressive styling. But the tough looks are backed up by serious off-road capability. In fact, about half of the Toyota Tacomas bought in the US are outfitted with the TRD off-road package. It’s no secret that adventure is the core appeal of the Taco. Even for some who will never get it dirty in the backcountry, it’s still a cool truck because it gives off those outdoorsy vibes.

How much is a 2021 Toyota Tacoma?

The 2021 Toyota Tacoma starts at $26,150, as per Toyota’s website. However, this truck easily options out over $50 grand. The Taco’s range-topper, the 2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro, comes equipped for the serious stuff.

The list of 2021 Toyota Tacoma trims includes several other trims as well. After the entry-level SR trim, Toyota offers the Toyota Tacoma S5. This trim starts at $27,940. Next in line, we see the Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport, starting at $33,060. Then, the TRD Off-Road and Limited Tacomas start at $34,315 and $38,905 respectively. The top trim 2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro starts at $44,075.

Options that bring interior upgrades like JBL speakers or additional driver assistance features can bring these prices higher. There are all sorts of add ons. From off-road packages to appearance packages and trail rails. All in, it’s easy to rack up the price with packages and accessories. However, they are great trucks to buy in lower trims and customize as well.

They can be difficult to come by

For this Taco Tuesday, we point out that these Tacos are in high demand. Due to their popularity, it’s not exactly easy getting your hands on a 2021 Toyota Tacoma. If your dealership has models in stock, make haste. These brawny little off-roaders may last long into high mileage territory, but they don’t last long on the lot.
