Bubba Wallace

Bubba Wallace, whose full name is William Darrell Wallace Jr., is a professional driver who races in the NASCAR Cup Series behind the wheel of the No. 23 Toyota Camry for 23XI Racing. He also participates part-time in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, steering the No. 1 Toyota Tundra for Tricon Garage.

Wallace began racing in the Bandolero and Legends car racing series as a 9-year-old and progressed until debuting in the Xfinity Series in may 2012. He qualified for his Cup Series debut at the 2017 Pocono 400, becoming the first African American driver to race on that stage since Bill Lester in 2006.

Wallace has continued to break new ground as the only full-time African American driver in NASCAR’s three national series, as well as the only African American driver to win multiple races in any of the series. He has also made headlines for his activism, specifically with regards to racial justice.
