Excursion
The Ford Excursion was a heavy-duty full-size SUV model produced and sold by the Ford Motor Company. Based on the Ford F-250 Super Duty full-size pickup truck platform, the Excursion was sized and priced above the slightly smaller Ford Expedition full-size SUV during its production run.
In 1997, the Ford Expedition was released as a full-size SUV sized between the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban models. After expanding its Super Duty truck lineup in 1999, Ford started development on the Excursion, derived from a heavy-duty pickup truck and meant to compete with the Chevy Suburban 2500HD.
Offered with gasoline and diesel engines, the Ford Excursion was critically reviled but initially very popular with consumers until gas prices skyrocketed in the early 2000s. This caused sales to drop and led to its discontinuation after a single generation. Other than the previously mentioned Chevy Suburban, other notable rivals of the Excursion included the GMC Yukon/Yukon XL and the Hummer H1.

Pros: The Ford Excursion full-size SUV is a giant vehicle with incredible amounts of space and power for driver’s towing and hauling needs.
Cons: The Excursion has pitiful fuel economy ratings. Additionally, its size, ride height, and weight make it difficult to maneuver and potentially dangerous for both the driver and other vehicles on the road.
