Kyle Larson
Kyle Larson races in the NASCAR Cup Series for Hendrick Motorsports, driving the No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. The driver and entrepreneur also represents Spire Motorsports in the Truck Series and Kaulig Racing and HMS in the Xfinity Series.
Born in Elk Grove, California, in 1992, Larson began racing open-wheel cars as a teenager, earning 2011 Rookie of the Year honors from the United States Auto Club. The 5-foot-6 athlete debuted in the Camping World Truck Series in 2012, capturing his first win the next year at Rockingham Speedway.
Since 2013, Larson has raced in the Xfinity Series, representing Turner Scott Motorsports, HScott Motorsports, Chip Ganassi Motorsports, JR Motorsports, Kaulig Racing, and Hendrick Motorsports over the years.
Larson began competing in the Cup Series in 2014, earning Rookie of the Year honors after compiling stats superior to those earned by any other rookie in history, including Jeff Gordon and Richard Petty.
After six years of racing in the Cup Series, Larson incurred an April 2020 suspension that stopped him from completing indefinitely after he used a racial slur during an iRacing event. NASCAR reinstated Larson in October 2020, and he went on to become the 2021 Cup Series champion for Hendrick Motorsports, becoming the first driver with 10 wins and a championship in the same season since Jimmie Johnson (2007).
