lancer
The Mitsubishi Lancer was a compact sedan model produced and sold by the Mitsubishi Motors Corporation. Originally released as a subcompact sedan, the Lancer was sized and priced above the Mitsubishi Minica ultra mini/microcar/kei car and below the Mitsubishi Gallant compact sedan.
First released in 1973, the Mitsubishi Lancer was known for its varying body styles (two-door and four-door sedans, coupes, and station wagons), its rally and racing history (winning the Safari Rally twice and the South Cross Rally four times), and for being marketed and rebadged under several different automotive marques and nameplates (Chrysler Lancer, Colt Lancer, Dodge Colt, Eagle Summit, Mitsubishi Mirage). Additionally, the success of the Lancer spawned the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution (or Evo) lineup of Lancer sports sedans.
The Mitsubishi Lancer was discontinued worldwide after the end of its ninth generation in 2017 except for in the markets of Taiwan and China. The competition of the Lancer continues to include the Honda Civic, the Nissan Sentra, the Subaru Impreza, and the Volkswagen Jetta.
