The Mazda RX-7 was a rear-wheel-drive rotary engine-powered sports car made from 1978 to 2002. There are benefits to these engines, such as their ability to produce a lot of power, the ease of customization, particularly for racing purposes. However, the issue with this is that you would most likely have to do the work yourself. These engines are pretty rare. Parts can be a little hard to find, among other risks.
However, many took the risk. These engines were lighter, smoother, and mechanically simpler than piston ones. The RX-7 had a low center of gravity and a 50:50 weight distribution. If you consider purchasing one of these users, a few things to keep in mind is that while the engine was nice, it was not bulletproof. It was noticeably less fuel-efficient than a piston engine. The seals could also fail if treated improperly. Be sure you are prepared to have a rotary engine before purchasing one of these unique cars.
