veloster
The Hyundai Veloster is a compact sports hatchback coupe model produced by the Hyundai Motor Company. Starting as a concept model that premiered at the 2007 Seoul Motor Show, the Veloster was tweaked for the mass market before entering production and officially debuting at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show before going on sale.
The Hyundai Veloster is unique for its asymmetrical doors. The driver’s side features one large door, and the passenger side features two smaller doors. This, in addition to its hatchback build, makes the Veloster an oddity within the Hyundai catalog. In terms of design, it’s most similar to the Hyundai Ioniq. However, the Ioniq is offered with hybrid, PHEV, and EV powertrains. In comparison, the Veloster only comes equipped with internal combustion engines.
Hyundai announced in July 2021 that all Veloster models would be discontinued in the U.S. except for the Hyundai Veloster N performance variant. Before this change, the Veloster’s competition included the Honda Civic, the Mazda3, the Toyota Corolla, and the Volkswagen Golf.
