Being tall has a lot of advantages in life. Tall people can reach that far spot on the wall when painting, see over shorter people at a concert, and some can even dunk a basketball. But can tall people fit in a Chevrolet Spark? Let’s find out.

Is the Chevy Spark good for tall people?

According to some Chevrolet Spark owners on mySparkEV.com, the maximum human height that the small car can accommodate is around 6 feet, 6 inches. Any taller than that and that driver would likely be hitting their head on the ceiling. There are even a few owners claiming that wearing a racing helmet for autocross is even possible for taller drivers.

To fortify this notion, Jessie Louthan III at Subcompact Culture who is 6 feet, 6 inches tall said he was able to fit in the Chevy Spark. The only caveat is that “after a while, it does start to feel a little cramped.” Louthan also noted that the car’s “leg room is adequate” and it’s “lacking a bit in the shoulder area, which is essential for moving your arms around (in order to turn the steering wheel).”

How small is the Chevrolet Spark?

The 2022 Chevrolet Spark is 57.9 inches and 194 inches long, which is pretty small for a four-door hatchback. But on the inside, there’s a decent amount of space. There are 39.1 inches of headroom and 41.5 inches of legroom in the front row, which is similar to the larger 2022 Chevrolet Malibu sedan. That’s surprising, although, the shoulder room is where the hatchback is lacking. The Chevy Spark has 50.8 inches of shoulder room while the more-comfortable Malibu has 58.5 inches.

After knowing that, it’s easy to see why vertically gifted drivers can fit fine, but those of a broader size may not fit well. Second-row passengers will have a tougher time as the Spark boasts 37 inches of headroom and a short 33 inches of legroom back there. In contrast, a larger midsize sedan like the Chevy Malibu has 37.5 inches of headroom and 38.1 inches of leg room. In that case, it’s safe to say that the backseat of the Spark will likely only fit passengers six feet tall or shorter. After all, it’s a pretty small hatchback.

Despite its small size, the Chevy Spark packs a lot into it

In its base form, the 2022 Chevy Spark most notably comes standard with manual windows, manual locks, and 15-inch steel wheels. There’s also single-zone climate control, manually adjustable front seats, and a steering wheel that tilts but doesn’t telescope. As we can see, that lack of adjustment can make it tougher for taller drivers and the base model’s barren interior is rather basic.

However, stepping up to the higher trims levels will give Spark buyers more luxuries like Apple Carplay/Android Auto, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, power amenities, and rear parking sensors. Surprisingly, power-adjustable seats are not an option on this car no matter which trim level you choose.

Standard and optional features aside, the Chevy Spark is a small car that’s fun to drive, gets good gas mileage (up to 38 mpg on the highway), and can accommodate tall drivers and passengers. It may not be as cool as dunking a basketball, but fitting into a Chevy Spark is quite handy. No matter how tall you are.
