The second coming of the Toyota Supra was a welcomed sight a couple of years ago. Although there was some pushback about its BMW parts, the Mk5 Supra is now a common choice among sports car enthusiasts across the U.S. However, considering it’s a two-seat sports car, some taller drivers may be wondering if they can even fit in it. Let’s take a closer look.

The 2022 Toyota Supra’s interior dimensions

According to some YouTubers and Supra Forum members, a driver that’s 6 feet, 5 inches tall should be able to fit into a 2022 Toyota Supra without any issues. One word of caution is that they will need to duck when getting into the car as the roof hangs rather low. Otherwise, once you’re in, the cabin is spacious enough for taller and wider occupants.

According to Toyota, the Supra offers 42.2 inches of legroom and 38.3 inches of headroom, which is surprisingly a tad smaller than the 2022 Mazda MX-5’s specs. However, there are two more inches of shoulder room in the Supra, which is what makes it feel wider and more accommodating for larger occupants. That all being said, if you’re taller than 6 feet, 5 inches, then you may need to look into a different sports car.

The Toyota Supra can accommodate a little more than two passengers

In addition to the two seats in the cabin, the 2022 Toyota Supra offers a decent amount of cargo room. Lift up the car’s cargo hatch and you’ll find 10.2 cubic feet of storage space, which is over twice the amount that you’ll find in the Mazda MX-5. In reality, that’s still not a ton of room, but it’s enough for a couple of carry-on bags and smaller items if needed.

During our time with the current Toyota Supra, we were able to transport larger items like an office chair in it. But don’t get your hopes up, in order to make it fit, we had to take the chair apart. The seat bottom fit well in the cargo area while the seat back took up most of the room in the passenger’s seat. In that case, we would call the Supra practical, but not really. Although, it could work well for a typical Costco run. Just don’t buy too much toilet paper.

Is the Toyota Supra good enough for long road trips?

Yes. The Toyota Supra is surprisingly comfortable for everyday driving and we wouldn’t hesitate to drive it across the U.S. In fact, we would welcome the challenge. We found the seats to be supportive and comfortable and the car’s suspension isn’t too rough. It does not exactly exude luxury car ride characteristics, but it’s comfortable nonetheless.

Overall, we would recommend the Toyota Supra for drivers of all sizes. However, if you happen to be taller than its roof line allows, then we recommend something larger like a Dodge Challenger, which has the interior dimensions to fit almost anyone.
