The lack of security hits just keep coming as a 17-year-old managed to steal a Chevy Tahoe from Donald Trump’s presidential campaign team.
Allegedly, the teen broke into the valet box at the Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee. The incident occurred around 4 AM the day before Trump arrived for the Republican National Convention.
After the teen stole multiple sets of keys, he got into a Trump SUV or the Chevy Tahoe with a massive Trump sign on the side of it, and drove through a gate at the Mason Street exit.
A security guard reached out and grabbed the handle of the Tahoe, but it was locked and the teen kept driving.
Police officers used GPS to track the vehicle, and found that it was parked at a Walmart nearby. The teen was arrested inside the store.
The team claims he was looking for a place to charge his phone around the Pfister Hotel when a locked cabinet piqued his interest. But why was he wandering around the hotel at 4:30 AM in the first place? If he had a room, he could have charged his phone in it.
Also, he said he picked the SUV at random. But it probably stood out as a luxurious option. Do you think the Trump team travels in entry-level models? The teen was charged with operating a vehicle without consent and
He was in Milwaukee County Jail with a $2,000 bond as of Wednesday the 17th. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 23. His name has not been shared because the teen is a minor.
It’s unclear if the Chevy Tahoe was a civilian model or an armored unit like the president and Secret Service team members use.
If it was armored then it probably seemed a lot cooler than a regular model with its bulletproof glass, strengthened panels, emergency lights, anti-missile tech, and computers.
Either way, the team is lucky that the SUV was quickly recovered because they can be extremely expensive.
