Tesla struggles as buyers reject $79,990 Cybertruck deliveries
The popularity of the Tesla Cybertruck is taking a nosedive. For months, celebrities bragged about ownership and it was one of the only trucks in the news. But now Tesla is struggling as buyers reject deliveries of the cheaper $70,990 Cybertruck model.
Tesla can’t get people to accept their $79,990 Cybertruck models
Remember when the Tesla Cybertruck was all the rage? Well, things didn’t last long. Now Tesla is having trouble getting people to accept delivery of their $79,990 Cybertruck models.
At first, deliveries were limited to those with a Foundation Series model, which starts at $99,990. The Cyberbeast increases the price to $119,990.
According to TorqueNews, Tesla started inviting those with Cybertruck reservations to take delivery of non-Foundation models on October 4, 2024.
However, Tesla burned through its list of the alleged one million reservations in only nine days. Tesla ran through the entire reservation list from 2019 to 2024 in a little over a week.
The delivery date for the cheaper Cybertruck model is slated for the end of October through November. So, this may indicate that a massive majority of reservation holders got the chance to take delivery but decided not to.
It took about 10 months since its debut for the Cybertruck to move 20,000. If the reservation list was around one million people, then more should have been delivered or accepted by now.
Perhaps people want to wait for the beefier models. The $79,990 Cybertruck option has the dual-motor and AWD. It has a range of 340 miles and a 0 to 60 mph time of 4.1 seconds. It also has 600 hp and the ability to tow up to 11,000 lbs.
With the tri-motor AWD Cyberbeast, you get 845 hp, 320 miles of range, and it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds.
Also, the Foundation Series model is a dual-motor variant with a few bells and whistles, like full self-driving capabilities. It’s basically a way to skip the line for an extra $20,000.
