CarBuzz has a handy tool for comparing cars that we are going to use for this comparison. The Tesla Model X is another popular SUV. For this comparison, we will use the Long Range Plus edition, which starts at $79,990.

The Tesla has an electric engine with an all-wheel-drive platform. As far as gas equivalent, it gets about 109 miles per gallon equivalent in the city and 101 on the highway. This SUV does have room for five passengers.

The Model X does offer an optional third row. The third row is a bit cramped but would work if you have additional passengers you need to tote around. This would add two seats.

The Model X has a curb weight of 5,534 pounds and can tow 4,960 pounds. The cargo area has 87.8 cubic feet of room. Generally, the Tesla is going to have less room over the Kia. However, what it lacks in space, it makes up for in luxury.

Is the 2021 Kia Telluride the right SUV for you?

The 2021 Kia Telluride is one of the most talked-about SUVs on the market right now. For families, it seems Tesla cannot beat this one. The starting price for the front-wheel-drive LX model is around $31,990.

The Kia Telluride has a 3.8L V6 that uses gasoline. It gets about 20 miles per gallon in the city and 26 on the highway. The fuel tank is 18.8 gallons, which is enough for road trips with the whole family. And on that note, the Telluride has room for eight passengers.

The curb weight is 4,112 pounds, and the Telluride can tow up to 5,000 pounds. In the cargo area, the Telluride has 87 cubic feet of room.

If you have a larger family or tend to travel with a lot of luggage, the Telluride is going to offer more space than the Tesla.

A roomy SUV or a smaller electric vehicle?

If you are considering one of these, it depends on what you need your new car for. If you require more seats, the Telluride might be a better pick. But if you are looking for a luxury ride and don’t have many passengers, the Model X is a solid choice.

The Model X is obviously a more luxury choice, but it is still a fairly practical all-electric SUV. It comes equipped with all kinds of technology and is fun to drive. Plus, you get to say, “I drive a Tesla!”

If the Telluride is more your style, we understand. It definitely has more room and is more appropriate for smaller children. With Tesla’s price, you can get a fully-loaded Telluride and probably cover your insurance for the year.
