When Tesla CEO and founder Elon Musk starts tweeting you can bet he’ll tease some things out. That’s what happened recently when he volunteered without prompts as well as answered questions posed about his Cybertruck. The amount of hype this one product has generated for Tesla since being unveiled in November last year is incredible. Musk is riding that wave and keeping it going with his occasional vague responses revealing Cybertruck changes from the concept.

So let’s get down to the latest Musk-facts about the Cybertruck. First, he says the size of the truck will be different from the concept. While first tweeting the Cybertruck would be 80-inches rather than the concept’s 84-inches he corrected that. Now he says it will be closer to 82-inches wide to make it more able to be parked in a standard garage. 

One of the reveals is the blade lights on the top of the concept will be on production trucks

In that same tweet, he also said the “laser blade lights” would be on the Cybertruck. Those are the thin lights seen above the windshield on the concept. Similar to off-road lights mounted on roll bars and roofs they will serve the same function. That is to light up terrain or outback paths where lighting is most needed. 

Another area he delved into was the suspension. The Cybertruck will have active ride height and active damping. He says these features will be “game-changing for a truck or any car with a high maximum weight ratio.” 

Musk says the general look of the Cybertruck will be “slightly better” from the concept

Musk was asked about the look of the Cybertruck and whether it will generally appear the same as the concept? His reply, “It’s slightly better.” He also warned about that space in your garage slated for your new Cybertruck. A Youtuber determined the Cybertruck can’t fit into a conventional garage. His tweet said, “Tesla Cybertruck’s massive size is a wake-up call for future owners looking to garage this beast.” 

Then he added, “We can prob reduce the width by an inch and maybe reduce length by 6+ inches without losing on utility or aesthetics. Minimum height is below 75 inches when the air suspension is set to low.”

The width and length have decreased as a nod to garages

With a minimum garage width of 20-feet, it would seem that an 84-inch width could barely squeeze into that garage. In total, garages range from 20-feet to 24-feet. Musk says that with these revised sizes the Cybertruck will be about the same outside dimension as the Ford F-150. As we know those trucks sometimes have issues fitting into garages and parking places. The reductions in sizes may only slightly help. 

When it’s available the Cybertruck will feature either a dual- or tri-motor version of the pickup. Musk says it will be ready by 2021 but Tesla’s track record for meeting production goals has been fraught with issues. We can say we hope to see it by 2021 but we won’t know for sure. These latest tweets are the first we’ve heard about the truck since November.
