The Tesla Cybertruck has had its share of obstacles, and now it’s facing one that’s particularly familiar to most automakers: demand exceeds supply. That has resulted in Tesla being forced to stop taking orders for the Cybertruck outside of North America. So what’s going on? Let’s take a look.

Tesla is only taking orders for the Cybertruck in North America

The Tesla Cybertruck is one of the most highly-anticipated electrical vehicles ever. Its arrival has been delayed several times to the point that some people are wondering if it will ever even become a reality. Now, that may be an unfortunate likelihood for anyone outside of North America, as Tesla has stopped taking orders for the Cybertruck outside of North America. 

According to Reuters, Tesla is only taking Cybertruck orders in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. However, Tesla hasn’t commented on this change. At the FT Future of the car 2022 conference, Musk did say “We have more orders of the first Cybertrucks than we could possibly fulfill for three years after the start of production.” He added that Tesla may have to stop taking orders for the Cybertruck because of the demand. 

At Cyber Rodeo, Musk promised the Cybertruck is coming 

At Cyber Rodeo, Tesla CEO Elon Musk promised that the Cybertruck is indeed on its way. He maintained that it will begin production in 2023. Musk says that the Cybertruck will be worth the wait. “It’s gonna blow your minds.”

In January of 2022, Tesla announced that the Cybertruck’s production would be delayed until 2023. While supply chain problems plague pretty much all car manufacturers, that doesn’t seem to be the reason behind the Cybertruck’s delay. Instead, Tesla wants to perfect the Cybertruck, especially as more electric trucks are coming on the market. Some of these new trucks resemble the Cybertruck quite a bit.

The Cybertruck is going to be revolutionary

The Tesla Cybertruck will be a vehicle like no other. At Cyber Rodeo Musk showed off one of the Cybertruck’s more unique features, which is its lack of door handles. The exterior of the Cybertruck is steel, like an armored car. Its sleek sides are unadorned with pesky things like door handles. Musk said no handles are necessary because,“The car can tell that you’re there and it just needs to open.”

Currently, there’s no price listed for the Tesla Cybertruck on its website, though it was previously estimated to be around $39,000. It’s supposed to have a range of up to 500 miles on a single charge. It’s also supposed to be fast, able to go from 0 to 60 in just 2.9 seconds. Tesla also says that the Cybertruck will also be able to tow up to 14,000 pounds. 

The Tesla Cybertruck continues to be one of the most compelling and confusing vehicles that isn’t yet real. We’re all waiting to see what happens next with the Tesla truck, and if it ever comes to fruition. Each step forward – and back – has Tesla watchers on the edge of their seats. If the Cybertruck does become a reality, it will have been worth the wait.
