Texas tow truck company says driver made ‘legal’ tow with a 5-year-old inside
In San Antonio, Texas, a tow truck driver might face criminal charges after hauling a car with a 5-year-old girl still inside. The situation unfolded Monday when the child’s mother, Dolores Bueso, says she briefly left her car running to talk to a neighbor. During that time, the driver arrived and moved the vehicle out…with her daughter inside.
Bueso, panicked, called 911 and got a ride from a helpful bystander. Eventually, they arrived at the tow yard, where Bueso reunited with her daughter. The child was unharmed.
Trinity Towing, the company involved, said the car was in a fire lane, not running, and that the tow truck driver did not see the girl. Apparently, she was asleep on the vehicle’s floor and out of obvious sight.
San Antonio police confirmed the tow was legal but are investigating the driver for potentially putting the child in danger, KENS 5 News reported. Bueso explained that she was able to see her car. However, the chain of events led to the tow truck driver taking off with her daughter inside.
Trinity Towing insists that its driver followed proper procedures and expresses relief that the child left the scenario unscathed. They also stated that the car had only been in the yard for a few minutes before they realized the child was inside. The company provided evidence and witness statements to authorities and said it’s working closely with investigators.
