For people who take off-roading seriously, the Ford F-150 Raptor is truly a beast. The F-150 Raptor is the highest-performance model in the F-series lineup. It’s meant for serious off-roading and towing, and its performance speaks for itself. Pawn Stars star Rick Harrison drives one as his everyday vehicle and he can’t say enough good things about it. Recently, he told Motor Trend all about his Raptor and his biggest pros and cons about it (spoiler: there aren’t many cons!).

The F-150 Raptor offers something for every situation

If a strong and powerful truck is what you’re looking for, then the F-150 Raptor is just the truck for you. Equipped with a twin-turbo 3.5L engine that gets a massive 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. The SuperCab model can tow up to 6,000 lb and the SuperCrew model can tow up to 8,000 lb. Basically, if you’ve got work to do, the Raptor is the F-150 you want.

Where it really shines, though, is in its off-road capabilities. The F-150 Raptor is equipped with Trail Control, which allows you to set your desired off-road speed, like cruise control, so you can focus on steering with the confidence you’d have on the road. It has FOX Live Valve Shocks that automatically adjust the suspension based on the sort of terrain you’re driving on.

It even comes supplied with Ford’s Terrain Management System, which allows you to choose between six preset settings tailored to different types of driving. There is Normal mode for everyday driving, Sport mode for a higher-performance on the road, Weather mode that improves handling in rain and snow, Mud and Sand mode for muddy or sandy terrain, Baja mode for high-speed desert running, and Rock mode for low-speed rock-crawling. Truly something for every situation.

What does Rick Harrison like about his F-150 Raptor?

In short, just about everything. Harrison uses his F-150 Raptor as his everyday vehicle and finds it perfect for what he needs. He spends five months of each year living off the grid in Oregon, so he needs a powerful truck to handle any downed trees he may encounter, among other things. And to say he’s put his truck through its paces is an understatement.

Harrison told Motor Trend that he’s taken his 2018 Raptor through the desert at 70 mph, as well as through countless forest trails and through thickets of trees with success.

He likes the suspension and amount of clearance the Raptor gets over the ground, finding that a vital feature for true off-roading. Additionally, he complimented the fact that you are able to lock the rear differential, giving you more control while towing or, in his case, hauling a tree through the woods.

What is Rick Harrison’s massive complaint about his Raptor?

Everyone can get nitpicky about their favorite things, no matter how much you may love them, and Harrison is no different here. The first thing he commented negatively about what simply that the truck is so big that it’s a pain to park. The F-150 Raptor is eight inches wider than an F-150 and you can feel the difference when you try to swing into a parking spot.

The only other downside that Harrison found is that the button controlling the side mirrors is too close to the buttons controlling the power windows. Concerning the unfortunate placement, Harrison said, “At least three times a week I go to roll my windows down and the mirrors fold in.”

Definitely an annoyance, but with the rest of the praise Harrison gave his F-150 Raptor, we’ll live with it!
