What there is to like about the 2014 G-Class

Performance capability is a huge selling point of the 2014 Mercedes-Benz G-Class. There are two engine options for this model year. No matter which G-Class model you choose, you are bound for an incredibly enjoyable and dynamic driving experience.

The standard G 550 model features a satisfying V8 engine that produces 382-horsepower. The upper-level AMG G 63 model has a powerful twin-turbocharged V8 that generates 536-hp. Both of these models are mated with a smooth seven-speed automatic transmission. The G-Wagen’s sports agility and available performance equipment make it perfect for living your off-roading dreams. 

The G-Wagen’s extremely rugged exterior is balanced with a posh car cabin. Its wooden trimmings give it a retro vibe but the premium leather upholstery makes it feel more modern. The G-Wagen’s car cabin is very spacious but only seats up to five. This large SUV also offers a nice infotainment system that comes with a few desirable features including a 7-inch display screen, Bluetooth connection, satellite radio, and navigation.

Potential drawbacks to consider

The 2014 G-Wagen is an exceptional off-roader but it’s not as smooth on-road so that is something to keep in mind. Another thing to note is that high-performing models like the G-Wagen aren’t great when it comes to fuel efficiency. That being said, the 2014 G-Class models only get a combined 13 mpg. You should also know that U.S. News gave the 2014 G-Class an above-average predicted reliability rating which is great. But it’s also important to note that there have been two recalls on 2014 G-Wagen. The first recall was related to a potential issue with the G-Wagen’s steering and the second recall was due to a potential problem with the vehicle’s software. These recalls don’t have to be deal-breakers though. Just make sure that routine maintenance has been performed on the model you are interested in getting before officially making your purchase.
