Recently, SUVs have become more popular alternatives to family cars. However, it’s still difficult to top a minivan when it comes to comfort and flexibility. If you are shopping for an affordable and dependable minivan, you’ll want to seriously consider the Honda Odyssey﹣the 2015 model year to be exact. The 2015 Honda Odyssey presents value and convenience. Plus, it’s more enjoyable to drive than you might think.

The 2015 Honda Odyssey surprised critics with its performance

Many drivers wouldn’t expect a minivan to be particularly athletic, but the 2015 Odyssey challenged that notion. Numerous critics were even surprised by how the Odyssey performs. When it was new, U.S. News best described this Odyssey as “unusually agile” and felt it was remarkably nimble for a minivan. The organization complemented the Odyssey for its lively 248-horsepower V6 engine and quick acceleration.

Experts at Consumer Reports also commended the Odyssey’s responsive handling and sharp steering. CR said that the Odyssey’s performance disputes the notion that minivans aren’t fun to drive. Furthermore, the Odyssey is pretty fuel-efficient for a vehicle its size. The Odyssey returns a combined 21 mpg, which is the best rating for the class. CR’s only major qualm here is that the 2015 Odyssey wasn’t available with all-wheel-drive.

The Odyssey is sophisticated and comfy

Overall, the Odyssey has an upscale cabin and has comfortable seating for up to eight people. Critics and buyers also appreciate the Odyssey for its quiet and relaxed atmosphere. CR found that the Odyssey’s car cabin will check most family’s must-haves.

“Inside, you’re treated to a quiet cabin and supportive, well-padded seats. The spacious second- and third-row seats can be folded or deployed in numerous configurations to accommodate varying cargo and passenger needs. Easy access, generous child-seat accommodations and abundant cabin storage let you check off three more boxes on the family-friendliness wish list.”

The 2015 Odyssey’s high predicted reliability and safety scores make it one of the more enticing options to buy used. U.S. News gave the 2015 Odyssey a perfect reliability rating. The organization also named it as the best minivan to buy used for under $20K for its family-friendliness. Additionally, CR gave the Odyssey an above-average score.

There are four recalls actions on the 2015 Odyssey, but they don’t have to be deal-breakers. One had to do with a potential concern with the minivan’s fuel system. The other three recalls all related to the Odyssey’s sit assembly.
