The RX Hybrid, officially the RX 450h, is a smooth operator, just like the conventional gas-version. This hybrid features a V6 engine connected to an electronic motor. Together, these power sources generate 299-horsepower. The RX Hybrid is an exceptionally comfortable ride and gets up to 29 mpg overall. In addition to its impressive fuel economy, critics have praised the RX Hybrid’s continuously variable automatic transmission.

As a new model, experts at U.S. News celebrated the RX Hybrid for its ability to maintain its composure, even as it turns sharp corners. It also offers satisfying speed and agility. The RX Hybrid’s well-rounded nature is why U.S. News named it as the best hybrid SUV of 2015. It is also ranked as one of the organization’s best hybrids to buy used for under $30K.

On the inside of the RX Hybrid

As you would expect from a Lexus, the RX Hybrid looks sophisticated on the inside. Its leather seats are inviting, and the real wood finishings make it feel more upscale. Plus, the RX Hybrid offers generous interior space and ample cargo room. Some models will have more amenities, including a moonroof and heated and ventilated front seats.

When it was new, the 2015 RX Hybrid came with a fair amount of in-car electronics. Standard infotainment features include a 7-inch display screen, Bluetooth connectivity, and Siri Eyes Free voice recognition. A rear-seat entertainment system was available as an upgrade. One downside to many critics is that the RX Hybrid features Lexus’ computer-like controlled infotainment system. The mouse-control isn’t ideal, but you do get used to it after a while.

Furthermore, the RX Hybrid did well in its crash-test and received a five-star safety score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Owner satisfaction

Even as a used model, the RX still gets rave reviews from vehicle owners, especially for its refinement. According to a Consumer Reports survey, 74 percent of RX owners would repurchase this SUV. Owners are most happy with their vehicles’ comfort and smooth driving experience. And for a luxury car, the RX also presents good value and attractive styling.
