When it comes to shopping for a three-row SUV, you’ve got plenty of options to choose from. Whether you’re in the market for an SUV that’s spacious enough to haul your kids, their friends, and their gear, or simply enjoy having copious amounts of interior space and plenty of options for seating, the 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe makes for a great buy. Further consider this used SUV’s fuel-sipping engine, and it becomes an even better choice.

We aren’t the only ones to think so either. The team at Consumer Reports took the 2016 Santa Fe out for a test drive to judge not only how comfortable it is, but also how fuel-efficient.

How fuel-efficient is the 2016 Santa Fe?

Driven by a 3.3-liter V6 engine that’s been paired with a standard six-speed automatic transmission, Consumer Reports claims the 2016 Santa Fe can move from 0-to-60 mph in 7.6 seconds. Based on what they have to say though, the 2016 Santa Fe’s fuel efficiency is what’s truly impressive.

When testing the three-row SUV, Consumer Reports achieved 20 mpg overall, which it says is 2 mpg better than the Santa Fe’s competitors. As for city and highway mileage, Consumer Reports recorded 14 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.

As for annual fuel costs, Consumer Reports says you can expect to spend $1,405 per year to gas up this three-row SUV.

Enjoy plenty of space in the 2016 Santa Fe

With three rows of seating, there’s no denying that the 2016 Santa Fe is a spacious SUV. According to Consumer Reports, folding down the second- and third-row seatbacks will give you a whopping 40.5 cubic-feet of space to work with. The second-row seatback also splits into a 40/20/20 configuration and the typical 60/40 split. Sliding the second-row seats forward expands the cargo space too. Meaning, no matter what you do, the 2016 Santa Fe has no shortage of space to offer.

Of course, the Santa Fe has more to offer than copious amounts of cargo space and multiple seat configurations. According to Consumer Reports, the 2016 Santa Fe’s roomy second-row is one of the SUV’s best features. Not only that but if you pull the second-row seat all the way forward, Consumer Reports says the third row of the SUV then offers up enough space for kids and adults alike.

What else does the 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe have to offer?

If its fuel-efficient engine and spacious interior haven’t entirely sealed the deal for you, consider the many other features the 2016 Santa Fe has to offer. Not only is its interior appealing to the eye, but it’s also decked out with plenty of tech features, including Hyundai’s BlueLink system. Download the BlueLink app, and you can start the 2016 Santa Fe remotely, get alerts about mechanical issues, or ask a Hyundai operator for additional help.

Beyond features, all Hyundai models also come standard with a 5-year/60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper and 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty. While 2016 models are cutting it close in terms of the bumper-to-bumper warranty, a 2016 Santa Fe should still be covered by its 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, even when buying used.
