Great powertrain options

The 2016 Mercedes-Benz C-Class gives drivers a lot of variety in terms of engine power. The base model is powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder capable of 241 hp. For a little extra power, a twin-turbo V6 is the standard for C450 trims. Two twin-turbo V8s are offered for each of the AMG trims.

The C63 has an output of 469 hp, while the C63 S is capable of 503 hp. If you want to maximize your fuel savings, find a C300d. Its twin-turbo diesel engine gets a combined 30 mpg, with an estimated mpg of over 40 mpg for highway driving.  No matter which engine you choose, each is paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is optional.

Advanced technology

Even back in 2016, Mercedes-Benz vehicles were packed full of great tech features. The C-Class sedan’s infotainment system comes standard with a touchpad controller capable of handwriting recognition. For drivers who want a more simple experience, they can still use physical controls for many of the vehicle’s functions.

Other nice features include Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and push-button start. It also comes with some advanced safety equipment like driver drowsiness monitoring and forward-collision warning. Higher trims offer more driver’s assistance features, like blind-spot monitors and lane assistance.

Luxe interior

Leatherette upholstery comes standard on the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, though you can find some models with genuine leather seats. Higher trims also come with real wood grain accents inside the cabin. The front seats are typically very accommodating inside the C-Class, but taller passengers may feel constricted in the second row.

For added comfort, sports seats are also available for both rows. The standard seats are still highly supportive, even for long car trips. While the C-Class already feels composed on rough roads, an optional air suspension system is also available to improve its performance.

The best things about the Mercedes-Benz C-Class

At the time of its release, the C-Class sedan was highly endorsed by critics. Edmunds said that its ride quality is excellent, and it handles well in almost every situation. They were also impressed with the C-Class’s infotainment setup, stating that it looked more interesting compared to ones in previous models.

Kelley Blue Book was also impressed with the revamped interior of the C-Class. They also appreciated that the 2016 model was now just as athletic on the road as its competitors.

Does the Mercedes-Benz C-Class have any weak spots?

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class has only a few drawbacks. KBB didn’t think that its steering was as engaging as other rivals in its class. Both Edmunds and Consumer Reports also noted that the car’s infotainment setup, while advanced, is a little confusing to master.

However, these small grievances definitely don’t detract from the overall appeal of the C-Class. According to KBB, you can find a used Mercedes-Benz C-Class for just over $21,000. Considering all the great things this car has to offer, that’s definitely a steal of a price.
