The 2016 Nissan Murano has stood the test of time. This Nissan impressed initially critics with its smooth performance and affordability. Though, a few ratings about this used Murano might give you pause.

Nissan’s Murano isn’t among the sportiest midsize SUVs nor is it one of the quickest. However, the Murano does get points for refinement.  The Murano can maintain its composure on bumpy roads and it’s a quiet ride too. Though, the Murano’s most notable flaws are its hampered driver’s visibility and vague steering.

The 2016 Murano gets its power from  260-hp, 3.5-liter V6. A continuously variable is also standard. You can shop for models with front- or all-wheel drive depending on what your needs are. The regular Murano can get up to 24 mpg overall, which commendable for this segment.  You might also see the hybridized version of the 2016 Murano as you’re shopping around. The Murano Hybrid can get up to 29 mpg overall. 

The Murano also impresses with its luxury-inspired interior 

You’ll so notice that the Murano earns praise for its upscale cabin. In fact, some critics note that the Murano is more like an Infiniti model and less like the mainstream Nissan brand. Back when it was new, U.S. News reviewers awarded the 2016 Murano as the ‘Best 2-Row  SUV for the Money’ ‘Best 2-Row SUV for families. 

The 2016 Murano is standard with cloth upholstery. You’ll want to look for the SL trim and above for upgrades including leather trimmings and heated front seats. But, tech isn’t a huge highlight for this Nissan. The 2016 Murano comes with a few connectives including a 7-inch display screen, satellite radio, and Bluetooth. Upgraded models will have an 11-speaker Bose stereo and active safety equipment including forward-collision warning. 

The 2016 Murano has proved to be reliable despite a few trouble spots 

The 2016 Murano received favorable reviews from critics, especially for its family-friendliness. And five years later, it continues to impress in the used-car realm with its overall dependability. This may seem surprising to some since the  National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recalled the 2016 five times. Four of the recalls related to concerns regarding the SUV’s service brakes. The other was for a potential issue with the Murano’s airbags sensors. 

Despite these potential trouble spots, Consumer Reports recently identified the 2016 Murano as one of the most reliable 2016 SUVs.  CR’s data shows that the 2016 Muranos had fewer problems than its classmates, including the Ford Edge, the Jeep Grand Cherokee, and the Hyundai Santa Fe.  Also, according to CR, 62 percent of 2016 Murano owners would repurchase the SUV. This percentage is slightly behind the Grand Cherokee and the Santa Fe, though.

The average price for a 2016 Nissan ranges between $14,775 and $20,800. Owners are happiest with the Murano’s comfort and driving experience. There aren’t many complaints about this SUV either, but a few CR members said they were annoyed with the number of recalls.
