Honda’s Accord persists as one of the most popular sedan options out there, and for many good reasons. This budget-friendly sedan is generally reliable and fun to drive, making it ideal to buy new or used. Additionally, the Honda Accord boasts a variety of powertrain options, including a hybridized variant. If you are especially interested in saving money on a hybrid model, you should consider the 2017 Accord Hybrid as your next car for the best value.

How the 2017 Accord Hybrid performs

The 2017 Accord Hybrid is pleasant to drive, comfortable, and efficient. This hybrid features a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas engine that’s paired with an electric motor. Together, these two power sources generate a 212-horsepower. Its mated continuously variable automatic transmission contributes to its smooth riding experience. The hybrid’s engine is known to get loud at higher speeds though.

The Accord Hybrid offers sporty handling and good braking performance. Of course, this vehicle’s main appeal is its excellent fuel economy. The 2017 Accord Hybrid gets up to a combined 48 mpg which makes it comparable to the Toyota Prius

Many respected auto critics have raved about the 2017 Accord Hybrid. Experts at WardsAuto gave this model a “Wards 10 Best Engine” award for its excellent performance and fuel economy ratings. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety named the 2017 Accord as a Top Safety Pick+, which is its highest honor.

Kelley Blue Book gave the Accord Hybrid its Best Buy Award in the midsize sedan category. Car and Driver has also consistently ranked the Accord as one of its top 10 best cars based on its annual reports. Generally speaking, the 2017 Accord Hybrid is one of the best model years to buy used and it has not been recalled for any potential issues.

Notable features

The Accord Hybrid offers a handsome cabin that seats five passengers comfortably. As far as standard tech features go, the Accord comes with an 8-inch display screen and Bluetooth connectivity. For the most luxurious features on this Accord, you can upgrade to the EX-L trim which adds a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and navigation. This trim also includes leather upholstery.

Advanced safety equipment is also a notable element in the Accord Hybrid. Standard safety features include automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, and lane departure warning. These features helped the Accord Hybrid earn a five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Cons to be aware of

There are no glaring issues on the Accord Hybrid but there are a couple of quirks and potential downsides to consider. For starters, some drivers have complained on KBB that the model’s infotainment system can be finicky when it comes to controlling the vehicle’s climate controls and audio.

Also, all-wheel-drive isn’t an available option. If you can live with these two components though the Accord Hybrid is a great value buy. Depending on the mileage and the configuration you select you can get this 2017 model for under $17K.
