The 2019 Ram 1500 Could Come With Expensive Problems
Before you consider buying a 2019 Ram 1500, pump your brakes. This was the first year to sport the new redesign, and you know what they say, never buy the first model year. This rumor might be true because the 2019 Ram 1500 has a few issues that previous model years don’t.
Is the 2019 Ram 1500 a good truck?
There are a few great reasons to buy the 2019 Ram 1500. It received a total makeover inside and out. It has one of the most comfortable truck interiors available. Plus, it’s extremely capable for towing and carrying heavy payloads with technical aids to help get the job done.
However, the issues reported to CarComplaints makes us worried that the 2019 Ram 1500 is a risky investment. CarComplaints allows drivers to post about their experiences with their own trucks, including expensive problems that they had to face.

The Problems from the NHTSA are also posted, meaning these problems are potentially dangerous. While there are only 56 complaints listed so far, it’s still pretty early. The 2019 Ram 1500 hasn’t had time to accrue that many miles yet.
2019 Ram 1500 electrical problems
The most prevalent 2019 Ram 1500 issues occur with the electrical system. One driver reported that after 20 miles with their truck, the radio wouldn’t work at all. It would randomly shut down. Their rearview camera would turn off while backing up too.
Another driver facing similar issues was told that they just needed to wait for a Uconnect system update to roll out. Until then, they were stuck with their black and blue infotainment center screen.
Other drivers couldn’t get the Ram 1500 trucks to turn off. They would put it in park and press the START/STOP button with no luck. The lights, radio, engine, and more stayed on until the battery was disconnected.
More problems reported included the navigation system failing to load or freezing, a total loss of power to the truck, all of the warning lights in the cluster display illuminating, remote start failing, and more.
2019 Ram 1500 engine problems
The 2019 Ram 1500 also has a variety of engine issues reported. The most interesting issue involves a high pitched squealing noise that occurs before the air conditioning starts blowing hot air. Despite hearing this noticeable problem, auto technicians refused to work on this issue without an appointment.
Another driver faced issues with their Ram 1500 randomly accelerating. Even when they took their foot off the gas pedal, the truck sped up to highway speeds on its own. After pulling over, turning off the truck temporarily corrected the problem.
When the driver took their truck in for maintenance, they received an update to clear codes on one of the sensors. However, this didn’t fix the problem, and the truck began dangerously accelerating the next day.
Other drivers struggled with their Ram 1500 models randomly turning off. While they turned left, the truck would stall. Also, reversing out of the driveway and putting the Ram 1500 in park caused it to shut off. One driver even had their engine shut off while driving on the interstate at highway speeds.
