The 2020 Audi S7: How Much Will It Cost Compared to the S6?
There’s a lot of talk about Audi’s upcoming 2020 S6 and S7 models. Audi has already released information about the sporty twins’ look and design, performance, and features. When the automaker revealed the 2020 S6 sedan’s price tag, many wondered if its S7 Sportback sibling’s price would match. The Audi S6 and S7 share many of the same features and design. But how will the roomier S7 hatchback’s price hold up against the S6?
All the details of the 2020 Audi S7
Both Audi S6 and S7 will follow the same S-formula design we saw in the new generations of 2019. The S7 will sport a sleeker, meaner look, with an aggressive front trim and wider side sills. Even its rear diffuser gets sportier, with four chrome tailpipes, according to Motor Trend.
Owners will find chrome or aluminum accents on almost every exterior feature. All 2020 S6 and S7 models will come standard with 20-inch wheels and performance tires. But that’s not all that will arrive in the U.S. at the end of 2019.
Performance and driving
As smooth and as sleek as it seems, the 2020 Audi S7 can get to 60 miles per hour in about 4.5 seconds, with a top speed of 155 miles per hour. According to Motor 1, this is only slightly slower than the S6 due to its increased height. Both models come with Audi’s impressive 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine with 444 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque.
In markets outside the U.S., the S7 will come standard with a 3.0-liter diesel engine that puts out 349 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission on an all-wheel-drive platform comes standard. You’ll also find the S7 has an electric turbocharger powered by a mild hybrid, 48-volt electrical system. The S7 will also have a new suspension system with an aluminum-intensive setup.
Interior and technology
Both S6 and S7 models will feature high-end interior options for 2020. Owners can choose between black, gray, or red leather interior colors, with plenty of “S” logos making appearances. In addition to stainless-steel footrest and pedals, Audi’s slew of safety technology comes standard in every S7.
Other equipment that’s standard in the 2020 Audi S7 includes a 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit gauge cluster, a surround-view camera system, four-zone automatic climate control, an impressive two-screen infotainment system, and 3D surround sound.
Options and price
While the base models are impressive, Audi also has a variety of pricier options. The 2020 S7 will start at $84,800 for base models — roughly $10,000 more than the S6’s starting price. According to CNET RoadShow, the S7’s higher trim level, the Prestige trim, will start at around $90,500. The S6 will be $78,800 for the same trim. So what will come with these trim options?
Drivers will have a variety of add-ons and options available for the S7. You can replace the 20-inch standard wheels with 21-inch, high-performing wheels. You can choose adaptive air suspension with adjustable damping. This lifts cars for ground clearance and levels them when carrying uneven loads. When the adaptive suspension is in Auto function, the suspension system automatically lowers the vehicle at high speeds.
You’ll also find Alcantara upholstery for upgraded sports seats, an optional carbon-ceramic brake system, and upgraded LED headlights with laser-light technology. Even with all the add-ons, do you think the 2020 Audi S7 is worth the price tag?
