Cars.com is one of those websites that got their hands on a tester and found themselves pretty impressed by it. However, they found one area holding the CT4-V back from being the number one car in its class. Let’s take a look at what Cars.com had to say about it.

Why is the Cadillac CT4-V so fun to drive?

The first area it excels at is the engine powering it up. This sedan has a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder motor that puts out 325 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque. 

Paired with it is a 10-speed automatic transmission. This engine, created from the same mold as the Chevy Silverado motor, enables it to get an acceleration time of 3.8 seconds for a 0-60 run. 

The lightning-quick speed doesn’t hinder its braking ability at all. The Brembo brakes, featured in this sedan, make for a confidence-building braking experience going from 60 to 0, according to carindigo.com

Another major part of its exceptional ride comes from the Magnetic Ride Control shock absorbers. They enable the suspension system to deliver incredibly balanced control when handling corners, or winding roads.  

Even the fuel economy got their attention with the Cadillac CT4-V. Its EPA rating of 28 mpg highway on the all-wheel-drive version. This is very much comparable to some of its rivals. It makes for a reasonably decent value since the CT4-V base model starts at approximately $45,000. 

What about the Cadillac CT4’s interior?

Cars.com felt the interior was top-notch. The materials used were high-quality, giving off a luxurious feel with no cheapness in sight. Controls were responsive and user-friendly, as well. 

It also contains the right amount of features on the dashboard. Some vehicles have tons of bells and whistles that can be dangerously distracting to the driver. The Cadillac CT4 takes a balanced approach and provides you only with what you would need for an enjoyable ride, so you can focus more on driving. 

Cadillac took notes from other luxury automakers and included their V-button for the steering wheel. This helps you customize your driving experience by the touch of a button. Setting your preferences with the V-control will give you a quick way to access whatever you need for the drive. 

What’s holding the Cadillac CT4 back?

Despite the stellar driving experience and its high-quality interior materials, there’s one thing that keeps the CT4 V-series from coming out on top. It’s the cabin area. 

With the usually cramped seating in 2-door vehicles or third-row SUVs, you’d expect sedans to have at least a modest amount of breathing space to the back seats. Cadillac fails at providing a comfortable space for rear passengers in this sedan. 

Sitting in the front seat isn’t too bad because you can adjust the seat positions to sit further back. But it infringes on the rear seat area, making it almost unusable. An average-sized adult could never sit comfortably back there. 

You’re better off using it for hauling shopping items or seating young children. You would have to be some contortionist to manage that back seat area if you’re larger than a toddler. 

Cadillac has many impressive vehicles, and the CT4-V is one of them. It’s a great option to choose if you don’t need the back seat area or have young children. For teens and older adults, however, this could be a deal-breaker.
