Do safety experts recommend buying this electric vehicle?

The 2020 Chevy Bolt doesn’t top the charts as one of the safest cars on the market. However, industry professionals found that this electric vehicle performs pretty well for its class.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) recognized the 2020 Bolt as a Top Safety Pick. The independent organization gave the hatchback top marks in five of its six crash tests. Meanwhile, the IIHS gave the Bolt an “acceptable” score in its passenger-side small overlap front crash test. Additionally, the IIHS graded the 2020 Chevy Bolt’s headlights as “acceptable” and its LATCH system as “marginal.”

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) backed up the Bolt’s reputation for being a safe car. The government-back organization gave it a five-star overall safety rating. 

However, the NHTSA issued three recalls for the car. These problems include the potential of the rear doors opening while in motion. So, make sure the dealer or manufacturer has resolved these complications before purchasing the 2020 Bolt. Thankfully, the Bolt’s infamous battery fire recall only applied to 2017-2019 models.
