The 2020 Chevy Silverado Trail Boss Is an Off-Roading Bargain
You don’t have to pay $53k for a powerful off-roading truck like the Ford Raptor or $71k for the Ram 1500 TRX. Instead, you can get a bargain with the 2020 Chevy Silverado Custom Trail Boss. Check out how to save with the Chevrolet Silverado Trail Boss.
The 2020 Chevy Silverado Custom Trail Boss provides power for less
According to PickupTrucks, the 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 Custom Trail Boss is the least expensive off-roading spec Silverado you can buy with the biggest engine that Chevrolet has to offer. The MSRP starts around $48k, but the team at PickupTrucks had one for $45,510, and this price included the destination fee.
Then they discovered that it comes with the optional 6.2-liter V8 engine that provides 420-hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. The 2020 Ford F-150 Raptor has a 3.5-liter twin-turbo HO EcoBoost direct-injection system that generates 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque but quickly climbs in price.
The Custom Trail Boss with the optional 6.2-liter V8 is at least $3,120 less expensive than the 2020 Ram Rebel with its V8 engine that only pumps out an extra 25 hp. It also only has 2 additional transmission gears and a 1-inch suspension lift.
What comes with the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Custom Trail Boss?
Yes, the 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 Custom Trail Boss is an excellent off-roading truck. It comes with tons of standard goodies, including a 2-inch life, Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac off-roading tires, and the Z71 Off-Road Package.
The Z71 Off-Road Package includes electronic hill descent control, skid plates, monotube shocks, and heavy-duty air filters. It also has part-time four-wheel drive with a low range transfer case, automatic locking rear differential, the trailer-tow package, red tow hooks, power-adjustable heated mirrors, and more. You can add the optional Convenience Package for a locking EZ lift tailgate, remote start, and rear window defroster.
To keep the price low, the Chevy Silverado Trail Boss comes in a double-cab configuration instead of the larger and more expensive crew cab. So, if you need a little more cargo space or have taller children, you may want to consider one of its rivals instead.
How is driving the 2020 Chevy Silverado Trail Boss?
The 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 Custom Trail Boss is incredibly comfortable and capable for much less than you will have to pay for rivals. While the folks at PickupTruck haven’t had the chance to take it off-roading yet, they have driven similar Chevy off-roading versions that performed well in the dirt.
Also, the Chevy Silverado Trail Boss is an excellent daily driver. It provides a smooth, comfortable ride with a quiet interior. It has a nimble feel with excellent body control and accurate steering. The large tires and high-riding off-road suspension was expected to be harsh, but it’s quite pleasant instead.
But the Chevy Silverado 1500 Trail Boss may have a disappointing interior. Chevrolet trucks are past due for a refresh. The interior is a little plain and outdated. However, the tough feeling cloth seats, vinyl floors, and black plastics give it a rugged feel and are easy to clean.
