Different car segments have different purposes, and automakers want to serve every customer as best they can. For example, SUVs are great for families, while pickup trucks are great for people who need to get the job done. But, sporty cars like the 2020 Dodge Challenger are great for folks who want to go fast and avoid dropping half a million for a Lamborghini.

The 2020 Dodge Challenger starts at just under $30,000

According to MotorTrend, the 2020 Dodge Challenger is a great sporty car that starts under $30,000. This is a great price point since most brand-new cars that aren’t luxury models start in the $20,000 to $40,000 price range. If you can afford a brand-new sedan like the Toyota Camry or the Honda Accord, then you won’t have to spend that much more to get a sportier car like the Challenger. 

On top of that, the Challenger is a full-size coupe too, which means that it’s a comfortable car drive. Many sporty cars will sacrifice comfort and space so that they can be lighter and faster, but the Challenger is spacious enough for adults, according to MotorTrend.

The 2020 Dodge Challenger has a lot of muscle

There are probably three reasons people want a Challenger to begin with, and the 2020 Challenger meets all those requirements. First, it has to have a recognizable name, and the Challenger has that covered. Secondly, it has to look cool, and, as MotorTrend said, Dodge gave the 2020 Challenger a very retro muscle-car look, so it looks cool.

And of course, it has to have muscle. Like most cars, you can always pay more money to get more muscle, but even the standard Challenger is pretty powerful. It comes with a 3.6-liter V6 that gets 305 hp, and it’s pretty good as is. That said, it wouldn’t be a muscle car if it didn’t have V8s available, and Dodge has plenty of V8 options available.

These V8s will make the Challenger more expensive, but also significantly more powerful. Dodge offers a 5.7-liter V8 that gets 372 hp, a 6.4-liter V8 that gets 485 hp, a 6.2-liter V8 that gets 717 hp, and even more powerful 6.2-liter V8 that gets 797 hp. This nearly 800-hp Challenger will cost a lot of money, but the standard V6 is powerful enough. 

The other powerful options under $30,000

With that said, there are plenty of other brand-new sporty cars that are available for under $30,000. Though, there are even more sporty cars at lower prices if you’re open to buying used. In any case, as MotorTrend wrote, another modern muscle car that’s under $30,000 is the Chevy Camaro. 

The Camaro starts at about $26,000, and it comes with a four-cylinder turbocharged engine that gets 275 hp. But, MotorTrend also said that customers could get a 3.6-liter V6 that gets 335 hp for their Camaro, and the car will still come in at under $30,000. That said, the Camaro is a smaller car than the Challenger is, so those extra horses come at the cost of comfort. 

The Ford Mustang is also a viable contender in this muscle car race. MotorTrend said that the 2020 Mustang starts at about $28,000, and it also comes with a four-cylinder turbocharged engine that gets about 310 hp. Of course, the Mustang also has engine options, but they’ll push it past the $30,000 price point.
