You can buy a brand new F-150 off the lot for a base model starting price of $28,745 while the Limited trim level skyrockets the price up by more than double with a $67,735 price tag. So what is it that makes the F-150 Limited the most expensive trim?

Exterior styling

You will know an F-150 has the Limited trim from the first glance because plastered across the front in chrome is the “Limited” badge. If the badge wasn’t a hint enough, the satin finish trim across the grille with smaller chrome details certainly will. The silver chrome inserts in the front make the Limited edition look more aggressive, and it pairs with the day running LEDs.

The Limited trim has one beautiful perk, a twin-panel moonroof that stretches from the front row to the back, giving the passengers a beautiful view of the night sky or makes the truck feel more open by letting in more light.

The tailgate of the F-150 Limited can be controlled remotely and can drop down with the press of a button. Even better than that, a button on the key fob allows users to drop the tailgate. There have some problems reported by several owners that have caused the tailgate to open unexpectedly, but Ford has not validated these claims and there is no recall.

Other than that the interior styling doesn’t have a lot of changes from the standard F-150 lineup.

Power and Performance

The Ford F-150 Limited has a good performance motor that can be tuned to produce an impressive amount of power. The Limited boasts a 3.5L V6 Ecoboost engine. It consistently produces 450hp and 510 lb-feet of torque from the factory, which isn’t disappointing.

For a pickup truck, the F-150 Limited has a surprisingly good ride quality. The cabin of the truck is well-insulated to minimize noise on and off the road. The suspension is a bit stiff and makes bumps and imperfections in the road feel slightly uncomfortable. There is no sport mode available in the F-150 Limited, so the suspension doesn’t adjust, but it does have responsive steering and is otherwise pleasant to drive. The brakes of the F-150 Limited are also snappy and responsive.

The F-150 Limited has an adequate gas mileage for a heavy-duty pickup truck. In the city, you can expect to get an average of 17mpg, and on the highway, you can expect about 23mpg. Maxing out the 7,000lb towing capacity would significantly reduce your gas mileage, but that’s to be expected.

Many people would argue that the motor and performance potential of the F-150 limited are worth the hike and price if you aren’t interested in the appearance updates. Whether it is worth the hike in price really depends on what you’re looking for in a truck, but overall the Ford F-150 Limited is a good buy.
