Wow, that has to hurt. The 2020 Toyota Tacoma just suffered a loss to the 2020 Ford Ranger. As the number one mid-size truck, you don’t see the Toyota Tacoma losing often. But let’s check out how the Ford Ranger beats it in one crucial area.

The 2020 Ford Ranger is more comfortable

According to U.S.News, the Ford Ranger is a more comfortable truck than the Toyota Tacoma. On their list that includes trucks of all sizes, the 2020 Toyota Tacoma ranks in 7th place, while the Ford Ranger ranks in 5th place.

The 2019 Nissan Frontier is in last place, and the most comfortable truck is the 2020 Ram 1500. This isn’t a surprise as the Ram 1500 received a significant redesign in 2019 that focused on interior comfort and luxury. But why is the Ford Ranger more comfortable than the Toyota Tacoma?

Why is the 2020 Ford Ranger comfortable?

The 2020 Ford Ranger has a score of 7.1 out of 10 for interior comfort. Despite U.S. News noting that the Ranger has a stiff ride and low-quality cabin materials, they found the seats to be larger and comfortable.

The Ford Ranger Lariat is the most expensive trim level, and it includes leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, heated front seats, and parking sensors in the front and rear. You can also add navigation, remote start, adaptive cruise control, and a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium sound system.

Why is the 2020 Toyota Tacoma comfortable?

The 2020 Toyota Tacoma only scored a 6.7 out of 10 for its interior. While the Ford Ranger was just reintroduced in 2019, the Toyota Tacoma has been around for years. It’s past due for an interior upgrade.

For 2020, the Toyota Tacoma got a larger infotainment system with Alexa, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. But despite having impressive interior materials, the Tacoma is tight on headroom. But maybe the option dual-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, and heated front seats will make you forget about feeling cramped.

Is the 2020 Ford Ranger or 2020 Toyota Tacoma better to drive?

According to Edmunds, the 2020 Ford Ranger isn’t the most comfortable option. They praised it for having a 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine with 270 hp, and 310 lb-ft of torque provides a sporty acceleration. They were able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 6.8 seconds.

But the Ranger seems unresponsive and slow to downshift. They mentioned that the steering is too light and numb, and the suspension is unsettled with corners and bumps. Plus, if you hit the brakes hard, there is a significant nosedive.

The wind road noise is nicely controlled, and while the cabin is bouncy, the seats have an excellent comfortable shape with tons of padding. Edmunds praised the Ford Ranger for having a roomy cabin too.

Edmunds wishes the Toyota Tacomas’ 3.5-liter V6 engine with 278 hp, and 265 lb-ft of torque was a little faster, but like the way the truck handles. The brakes provide a concerning nose dive, though.

It has a quiet interior and seats for long-range comfort with a slightly bumpy ride. They recommend the Colorado or Ridgeline for a smoother ride. The high step-in height is the main drawback of the cabin, but the 10-way power seat and adjustable steering wheel allow you to create a comfortable driving position.
